Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
wow seems like no one likes to share their scores...i am a little different..
1. yes i will help you study even if i'm not an a student.
2. i don't mind telling you my score because good or bad i guess i earned it. if your gonna ask i'm gonna tell you.
3. i'm too old to care about anything except passing.
4. i know stuff happens you can copy my answers but remember you probably should look them up when you get time. it did take me a while but who cares.
5. if all of us were helpful to one another and a little more tolerant to the differences in personalities wouldn't the world just seem like a better place.
6. if you can't deal with your fellow students have fun with your patients.
i think most are dealing. they are here to blow off steam.
relax.
You do not have to make a discussion out of every single section the instructor goes over, especially when you always find a way to mention what you saw on Dr. Oz...why even start off what you want to say with "this doesn't really pertain to the topic, but..." ...you don't always have to talk...
It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't notice everyone get bug-eyed and make faces when you start talking....my main concern is feeling embarrassed for you, I think.
Thank you Hygiene Queen for that fantastic advise. I had no idea they were all venting before you enlightened me. Your gonna be a wonderful caregiver. I will say that most nurses that I have encountered in my life have had that same wonderful outlook on looking at the bad as often as they can. So your gonna fit right in.

I do fit right in.
While I am a new nurse, I have been taking care of patients for over 20 years.
I'm not "gonna" be a wonderful caregiver. I am a wonderful caregiver.
It is highly annoying to hear someone jump into a vent thread and pass judgment on people who are venting.
As for my outlook, well, I tend to be positive.
I think she was just posting how she felt. No biggie! For many students it is true. If you can't handle your fellow students quirks, then yep, pts may be a challenge. Many times they are anyways. I didn't take it like she was venting and needed to relax, she was just sayin.....This thread is about the things we would like to say.
Not passing judgement just trying to be a little positive in a highly stressful atmosphere like nursing school. We could all jump out of our skin and strangle someone. I just like to preach what I practice. It's too bad we are all too busy for a glass of vino because then we wouldn't give a crap.
Okay. I'll bite.
1. QUIT ASKING ME QUESTIONS. NO, I WILL NOT DO YOUR WORK. DO IT YOUR DAMN SELF!
2. ALRIGHT, you got your A, and yet you know me and the person right next to you got a B, do you want keep rubbing it in to make us feel extra ******?
3. I need to start studying alone, because you all distract me and try to turn the studying to be about you and constantly asking questions that you know you know the answer to but what to ask just to make it seem as though you are so smart.

But don't you want to excell and not "just pass"?
I can deal with them, but I can deal with the constant questions and the laziness of them. Work with me, and I will work with you.
I know another student refused to study with others because he was constantly distracted. Now he is doing well. Next quarter, I plan on doing the same.
Ive never studied in groups, dont see why I would start suddenly in Nursing school.
Supposedly it helps. But I find myself explaining more than getting anything out of it. Plus, it seems like they will talk out to me when they can clearly see I'm trying to focus. I wanted to smack this guy today. I was trying to study and he kept trying to talk to me. I wanted to yell, "Shut up! Can't you see I'm trying to study?"
heres a few and iits only my first semester! i can just imagine how more intense it is going to get.
1.) the most obvious ... i dont want to share my test grades with you ... they are my grades i worked for them. i dont want you to increase or decrease your self esteem. worry about yourself, less about everyone else.
2,) we are in nursing school, not highschool. just stereotyping, judging, and criticizing people. if i dont mistaken, we learned this already as a nurse. if your doing it to people now, how are you going to act when your an actual nrrse?
3.) "when i become a nurse, i wont have to give bed baths"?? really .. what kind of planet are you living on bc last time i checked nurses and pcas work together .. and thats ifff you even have a pca to work with that day. get a clue .. and the job should be about these people and their health .. and less about the task associated with it.
4.) if you are in nursing school for the money, quit while your ahead .. and do all of society a favor bc i do not want a nurse taking care of me that doesnt have the compassion.
5.) i know i dont have kids, i wanted my career first BUT that does not give you the right to criticize everything i say and with the famous line " thats because you dont have kids yet" i still have nieces and nephews so i get the jist of it .... i just wanted to do it the right way. so stop judoging criticizing and stereotyping me again i think we learned this before!
6.) i know i may be younger than most of you, but that does not give you the right to feel like you are my mother. i have one thanks. i dont need to hear when i was your age ... because last time i checked we are in two different time periods .. and as much as we hate to say it things change!
phew. that made me feel a little better! thanks.
