I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Trump's Social Media Company Posts Q1 Revenue of $770,500 and Net Loss of $327.6 Million
Seems like maybe the value of the company was artificially inflated in advance of the stock sale. Trump needed money.

Yesterdays ad disturbs me due to verbage and idol imagery --along with photoshopped content.

I'm encouraged that this crazy ad that treats Trump like some kind of a deity, at least doesn't use Nazi imagery.
Chaos and messes just drip off of Trump.

Quote"Notably, no excuse is provided as to how the former president could miss the classified-marked documents found in his own bedroom at Mar-a-Lago,” Howell, an Obama appointee, wrote.
In a footnote, Howell also noted that another Trump adviser connected to his Save America PAC had acknowledged scanning the contents of the box that contained the classified materials in 2021 and storing them on a personal laptop provided by the PAC.
Classified documents stored on personal digital devices.
I'm glad these facts are getting unsealed and aired. Undecided voters will take note.

The defense asked for the judge to dismiss the case and then they called their witness.
The judge cleared the courtroom to admonish the defense witness. That can't be a good look for the jury.
Alan Dershowitz certainly has an opinion on what has transpired in that courtroom. Of course, he just might be a MAGA zealot spreading right-wing propaganda.

That's right, he could be.
FBI Was Prepared to Use 'Deadly Force' at Mar-a-Lago Raid
QuoteShockingly, however, Crooked Joe Biden's As I Department of Injustice authorized the use of "deadly force" in their Illegal, UnConstitutional, and Un-American RAID of Mar-a-Lago, and that would include against our Great Secret Service, who they thought might be "in the line of fire.” As I told Crooked Joe's DOJ, if they needed anything, "all they had to do was ask.” They did not have to ILLEGALLY AND UNCONSTITUTIONALLY RAID my home, and rummage through my family's, including Barron's, private quarters.

Video: Garland refutes Trump's 'false' claim about FBI standard operating procedures
QuoteThe government tried repeatedly for more than a year and a half to get the former president to return documents from his time in office. Finally, it resorted to a search of his property and, eventually, criminal charges.

How can people who claim to be followers of Jesus support a man of undisguised moral degeneracy?
Quote
,,,The question I've been asked as much as any other during the Trump era is how people who claim to be followers of Jesus can offer such dependable, even enthusiastic, support to a man of undisguised moral degeneracy. Why do they rally around Trump in overwhelming numbers even when there are very solid conservative alternatives to him, such as former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, in 2024? How can Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, who recently told Sean Hannity that if you read the Bible you'll understand his entire worldview, appear at Trump's hush-money trial in Manhattan to show his moral support for such a morally compromised man? ,,,
How did we end up in a situation that led the late Timothy J. Keller, who was one of the most trusted Christian ministers in the world, to say that the word evangelical used to denote people who staked out the moral high ground—but now, in popular usage, is nearly synonymous with hypocrite?
The answer is complicated. Part of the explanation is that many white evangelicals have convinced themselves that if Democrats win public office, especially the presidency, abortion and crime rates will skyrocket, there will be a "war on Christianity,” and America will become a hellscape.
The fact that the empirical evidence doesn't support this claim doesn't matter to them; they feel it's true, they tell one another it's true, and so they operate on the assumption that it must be true. It's not enough to say that Democrats are wrong on some important matters and radicalized in some troubling ways; things need to be framed as an existential battle, as good versus evil, as God versus Satan....
,,,“For some on the religious right,” Malcolm Gladwell wrote in an American Spectator essay in 1986, "advancing a political agenda has come to take precedence over even the most basic ethical considerations.” This has been a decades-long through line.,,,
