The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

By that standard every holly scripture would be banned wouldn't it?

What a wild imagination. I've not read that specific scripture. It has been noted, however, that the Holy Bible wouldn't be able to get past the modern day book bans of conservative groups like Mom's for Liberty

What followed was a triggered rant having little to do with Trump's actual policy.  How embarrassing after you just talked about policy being so important to Trump getting reelected.

We haven't even discussed the policy that he plans to bring forward should be manage to regain power. Have you read any of that?

Of course you forgot that he also said "peacfully and patriotically make your voices heard"!!

Nothing says peaceful and patriotic like bear spray and a noose.

That specific scripture? Are you seriously going to claim ignorance of some interpreting religious scripture to justify violence? Lool. Mkay.

Nah. Policy isn't going be the deciding factor. Not this time.....

I wonder if that is one of the opinion pieces  printed out and given to Trump to bolster his mood in court.

Oh no. Maybe you should link to the "holly scripture" that you want me to consider. Isn't it the Christian Nationalist movement that tries to use the Bible to justify violence for conservative beliefs?  Are you trying to project that now?

But, but you wanted to talk about Trump's corrupt policy. Should we talk about his disqualifying character flaws instead?

Here's some discussion of Trump's presidency.

That afternoon, Congress was scheduled to certify the election of Joe Biden as the forty-sixth president of the United States. But the incumbent he defeated was doing everything he could to block the transfer of power. Thousands of his followers had come to Washington at his request to stop the certification, and no one knew for sure how the day would play out. The Situation Room staff was on alert, monitoring events, synthesizing public information and private intelligence, and preparing to report to the president—as they did with all crises, domestic or foreign, that might require his attention. But on this day, they never called him. He didn't call them. The president himself was the cause of the crisis.

With reports coming in from the Secret Service and other officials on Capitol Hill, the Situation Room scrambled into action. "Things got very chaotic,” Stiegler told me. "We went into a continuity-of-government situation.”

Stop there. Take that phrase in: "continuity-of-government situation.” That bland bit of bureaucratic jargon masks a deadly serious set of policies and actions first ordered by President Eisenhower at the height of the Cold War. "COG" was designed to ensure the government would still function after a disaster such as nuclear war. It involves secret command centers—the Sit Room being a critical one—elaborate chains of command, the relocation of Congress and the replacement of executive branch officials killed in attacks. It had been activated only once before, in the immediate aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Trump shouldn't be anywhere near power like that again.

As Donald Trump's criminal trial in Manhattan reaches a critical turning point, an amusing paradox has emerged. For once, Trump claims to be happy with his lawyers' performance after a long history of fractious relationships with his attorneys. This might ordinarily be a welcome development for him — but the problem is that they are not doing a particularly good job defending him.

Put simply, Trump's legal team has made several considerable, and at times baffling, missteps over the course of the trial that have increased the odds of a conviction.

It will be interesting to see how the jury interprets test these things.

It has been fun to hear about conservative politicians attending the trial to help Trump out with the limits of his gag order. These people are shameless and will do just about anything for their leader, Trump.  That's a bit unnerving.  They'll even humiliate themselves publicly for him.

He lies.

These crimes put Cohen in prison during Trump's term and Trump was listed as unindicted co-conspirator. It's nice of him to remind us that he will lie for his leader though.

I saw photos of Trumpy's little minions lined up behind him this morning, wearing matching blue suits and red ties. Ridiculous. Trump referred to them as his "surrogates". At least one, Byron Donalds, took some shots at Judge Merchan's daughter. This may violate the gag order, LOL.

Others I recognized were Ramaswamy and Burgum.

Yesterday was JD Vance and Tuberville.

So sad, that the former president's wife can't make an appearance. Maybe she doesn't have a blue suit and red tie.

Are you seriously going to willfully forget about the atrocities comitted by the  misinterpreted Islam?  ??
