The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

So what if she's out to get Trump? If he broke laws, that's her job.

Trump exaggerates net worth, banks extends out loans to him.

Trump pays off loans, banks gets paid back plus interest.

AG spends who knows how much resources investigating "fraud".

State prosecutors review case, decide not to prosecute.

AG files civil case.

Months long trial to ensue, using up more resources.

If AG prevails Trump to pay fines and will be crippled to do business in NY ever again.

Does that sound like she's "doing her job"?

I wonder how many others who have committed similar "crimes" will she will go after?

Given the magadonian propensity for violence and general harassment, do you think it has something to do with fear for their and their families' lives?

Romney's book suggests just that.

The judge thinks that it sounds like she's doing her job, as evidenced by his finding that she's already proved that he unlawfully and dishonestly inflated his property values and assets to benefit himself. I'm sure that you and other Trump supporters and apologists can petition the court to reprimand the AG for her waste of resources. I'm guessing some of Trump's supporters will likely threaten the AG or the judge if the right wing voices can get them agitated enough.

Maybe this represents just another example of how unprecedented Trump's behavior and habits appear to people who exist outside of that pro-Trump media bubble.

Is that the language of a President or a Speaker?

It's the language of a desperate sociopath  trying to hold on to power and knows his followers will wreak violence to save him.

New York State has long had a white collar task force and haven't singled out Trump as the only investigation but yes he was targeted, I still maintain he's not a victim.  If he did wrong, too bad, so sad.

The Supreme Court recently did push back on New York.

The Supreme Court has imposed new restrictions on federal white collar fraud prosecutions in two related cases stemming from alleged corruption during the tenure of former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, continuing a trend of push-back against what the Court perceives as federal prosecutorial overreach.

I'm following the updates from DC hearing in the NY Times about trying to issue a gag order on the former guy. Judge Chutkan is on fire.

I realize there is a paywall, but here is a link:

At one point the reporting indicates that the judge laughed at Trump's attorney.  They have really given Trump way more latitude than most criminal defendants are allowed.  I wonder if he will ever lose that privilege.

Powell, who was charged alongside Trump and 17 others with violating the state's anti-racketeering law, entered the plea just a day before jury selection was set to start in her trial. She pleaded guilty to six misdemeanors accusing her of conspiring to intentionally interfere with the performance of election duties.

As part of the deal, she will serve six years of probation, will be fined $6,000 and will have to write an apology letter to Georgia and its residents. She also agreed to testify truthfully against her co-defendants at future trials.

That doesn't bode well for Trump.

Seems like very light punishment for the accusations.

Must not be a very strong case.
