The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

That's not really supported by the evidence given that Trump is a pathological liar who already showed that he doesn't care one bit about the constitution.  But, millions of people have set aside their critical thought and discernment to vote for him.

We'll see Nov.5th won't we? You want to know what? If he doesn't win, I will look to Harris to good things. I will acknowledge when she does. She will be my president and I want her to succeed. Why would I want her to do poorly?  On the other hand, you'll be here desparaging and disgracing him even if he makes your life better.

Surely you jest. I thought Biden was too old in 2020 and said so.  I have simply denounced the idea that Biden has dementia when he clearly has obvious evidence of normal aging. I bet you didn't misunderstand my stance after all of those posts and exchanges.

That's some interesting hyperbole right there.  Have you heard Trump talk?

And my stance has been dementia or normal aging is irrelevant.  Either way, he is cognitively unfit for the job.  And up until he dropped out you maintained he was fit for the job.

And what's funnier is that once he did drop out you tried to tell us it that the way it all transpired was all part of a brilliant plan by Biden.

Tell us, how brilliant does it look now?

Now, go ahead and deflect to Trump.

What nonsense are you trying to attribute to me?

I'm not going to argue with you about Trump's lies.  You don't care if he lies so what's the point?

So many people around Trump, doing Trump's bidding, end up in deep trouble with the law.

Hmm ... one user gets outed as a bot and, BEHOLD! A new username with no posting history but who(presumably) joined in 2015 starts chiming in with the same old Limbaugh script and little else. Someone should tell him that Biden isn't on the ballot. Maybe the farmers are trying to update its training?

Yup. It's like they all get these daily messages of uniformed propaganda and talking points. It quite creepy. All msm, social media and these threads saying almost the exactly thing and almost using the same vocabulary.

Like "weird" and "threat to our democracy" " glass shard"......

CEASE & DESIST: I, together with many Attorneys and Legal Scholars, am watching the Sanctity of the 2024 Presidential Election very closely because I know, better than most, the rampant Cheating and Skullduggery that has taken place by the Democrats in the 2020 Presidential Election. It was a Disgrace to our Nation! Therefore, the 2024 Election, where Votes have just started being cast, will be under the closest professional scrutiny and, WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law, which will include long term prison sentences so that this Depravity of Justice does not happen again. We cannot let our Country further devolve into a Third World Nation, AND WE WON'T! Please beware that this legal exposure extends to Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials. Those involved in unscrupulous behavior will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country.

This is the Trump thread, discussing Biden is the deflection.  Trump is unfit to serve as president on a variety of levels; cognition, judgment, temperament, etc.

He's just building the narrative that bolsters the belief of his fan base.  He knows how to tell a story.

NASA chief calls for investigation into report that Musk and Putin have spoken regularly

Quote

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson called for The Wall Street Journal's recent report on "secret" conversations between tech billionaire Elon Musk and Russian President Vladimir Putin to be investigated.

Nelson first emphasized that NASA is "non-partisan political" and praised SpaceX for its recent work in developing spacecraft, before saying that the Journal's Thursday report should be looked into.

"I don't know that that story is true,” Nelson said at a conference hosted by news outlet Semafor. "I think it should be investigated.”

"If the story's true, that there have been multiple conversations between Elon Musk and the president of Russia, then I think that would be concerning, particularly for NASA, the Department of Defense, for some of the intelligence agencies,” he continued.

Nelson's response comes after the Journal published a report stating Musk and Putin have been in touch since late 2022, having discussions that were confirmed to the outlet by "several current and former U.S., European and Russian officials.” The sources told the Journal the conversations were on "personal topics, business and geopolitical tensions.”

The Journal reported that Russia's president at one point asked Musk not to activate Starlink internet service over Taiwan for the sake of giving a favor to China's President Xi Jinping, citing sources briefed on the request....

Trump Has Already Punished Jeff Bezos Over the Washington Post's Independence

Quote

...The absence of a Post endorsement does not matter. What matters is the very live prospect that Bezos will continue leaning on the journalists in his employ to make their work less offensive to a president who has proven he is willing and able to take money out of Bezos's pockets if he defies him.

Furor over Washington Post's decision to not endorse presidential candidate: 'Stab in the back', 'dying in darkness

Quote

Employees outraged at 'chicken-***’ move that breaks 30-year precedent, alleging Jeff Bezos quashed Harris support

...In a statement on X, Marty Baron, the former executive editor of the Washington Post, called the paper's decision "cowardice, with democracy as its casualty".

Donald Trump, Baron said, would "see this as an invitation to further intimidate the owner" of the Washington Post – Bezos. "Disturbing spinelessness at an institution famed for courage", Baron added.

David Maraniss, a Pulitzer-winning reporter and editor at the Post, added: "The paper I've loved working at for 47 years is dying in darkness.”

Another former editor at the paper, Robert McCartney, said: "Given the choice this year, it's appalling.”

Multiple outlets have also reported that Robert Kagan, the newspaper's editor at large, has decided to resign from the editorial board following the announcement of the paper not to endorse in the presidential race.

Susan Rice, the former US ambassador to the United Nations and former domestic policy adviser for the Biden administration, called the decision "hypocritical".

"So much for 'Democracy Dies in Darkness',” she said, referring to the newspaper's official slogan, adopted in 2017 under Bezos's ownership. "This is the most hypocritical, chicken-*** move from a publication that is supposed to hold people in power to account.”....
