I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Elon Musk was at Ridley High, my dad's alma mater, yesterday supporting Trump. The event put on by America PAC a pro-Trump organization founded by Musk was announced only on his X platform. About 700-900 people attended --all having to park on side streets as school parking lot closed; nice for neighbors. Community was heavy Republican at one time so supprised attendance not higher: ? as America PAC required attendees at the event to sign a petition supporting the First and Second Amendments and be a registered voter in the state to enter the town hall.
FEC election records show Musk has given $75 million to America PAC. Those who signed above petition and gave another persons name were eligible for $47/person to encourage them to vote.

...Musk said he was holding the event because "you show what's important by your actions.”
He said the fundamental values and what made America great are at stake in this election.
He painted a grim picture of cities such as Philadelphia and said Democrats won't put criminals in prison.
"You should be able to walk the streets of the city,” he said, adding that the situation at the border is "insane.”
Musk said, "four more years of this and we will be fully in 'Mad Max' mode.”
Another person asked about mail-in voting. Musk said that as a technology person he knows that some amount of cheating takes place and it's been made impossible to prove.
He called for in-person voting with hand counted ballots to prevent that....

In Delco town hall, Elon Musk spouted misinformation about Kamala Harris and Pa. voting
Quote
Without evidence, Musk said at Ridley High School in Folsom that both Harris and President Joe Biden are being manipulated by mysterious higher-ups.
"It's just obvious that Biden is not in charge. It's obvious that Kamala is not in charge ... As far as I can tell, it's not just one puppeteer, there are many. But it would be interesting to see the overlap between Epstein's client list and Kamala's puppeteers. I bet there are a lot of names on both lists.”...
Because of her purported position as one of many individuals under some mastermind's control, Musk suggested that Harris is an unlikely target for assassination "because it's pointless,” he said "What do you achieve? Nothing, you just bought another puppet.”...
He incorrectly said that Dominion Voting Systems had been used in Philadelphia during the 2020 election.
"There's some very strange things that happen that, that are statistically incredibly unlikely,” Musk said. "So, there's always a question of, like, say, the Dominion voting machines. It is weird that, I think, they're used in Philadelphia and in Maricopa County, but not a lot of other places. Doesn't that seem like a heck of a coincidence?”
Dominion machines hadn't been used in Philadelphia, the company explained in a statement released Friday. It has, however, been part of elections in Armstrong, Bedford, Carbon, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Fayette, Fulton, Jefferson, Luzerne, Montgomery, Pike, Warren, and York counties.
Dominion was found to have been falsely accused by Trump, his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and others of rigging the 2020 election. The company was paid $787 million by Fox News to settle a defamation lawsuit related to its repeated airing of false claims.
In its statement, the company refuted baseless and false claims about the integrity of the election system or accuracy of the results in Pennsylvania.
However, the statement went on, "despite numerous election security experts and U.S. Attorney General William Barr affirming there is no evidence of widespread fraud in this election, disinformation persists.”
Asked by a member of the town hall audience about alleged election cheating, Musk added to his torrent of misinformation by denigrating mail ballots, something Trump has continued to do despite assurances from Republican Party leaders that such voting is safe — and encouraged.
Musk combined his criticism with the long-discredited notion that noncitizen voting is a significant problem in America.
"When you have mail-in ballots and no, no sort of proof of citizenship,” Musk claimed, "it becomes almost impossible to prove cheating, is the issue.”
Such false claims damage democracy, according to the Brennan Center for Justice. Utilizing the lie that large groups of noncitizens vote, certain politicians are working to enact restrictive voting policies, the center said.
"These conspiracy theories are not harmless rhetoric,” the center concluded.
Also at the event, Musk said America should "only do paper ballots" during elections. "I'm a technologist,” he said. "The last thing I would do is trust the computer program.”
As CNN and other outlets have reported, more than 98% of US voters live in .jurisdictions that already have fully auditable paper trails.
Does Musk trust the computer program for his Space X rockets?

It should appear that I think that JD Vance is an opportunist who was happy to take Trump's offer of the Vice Presidency just like he was happy to take Peter Thiel's money or tell lies about his own constituents for political gain. It should appear that I think that Vance would have zero reservations about getting Trump removed and fully executing P2025.
Now, all of a sudden, you're just fine with a crazy and demented old man getting manipulated and used for nefarious intentions. You'll even go right along with it and vote for the unfit and incompetent old man.
We had a "crazy demented man" that wasn't in charge of his own presidency and was pushed out by his party when it was too hard to deny anymore. It really sucked.
Just as Biden stepping aside for Harris, if Trump becomes as cognitive declined as Biden then Vance will be president.
S per our democratic process.
I will vote for Trump and so will millions of other Americans. It's a close race.

I noticed that you are trying to project Trump's mental illness onto Biden while you craft some weird story about the demented president getting pushed out when the president is still the president but did step out of the political contest. Gosh, team Trump wants to keep campaigning against Biden.
Trump will never step aside. Trump is clearly already more cognitively impaired than Biden is on his worst days. That was my entire point; Trump's bad choice in VP is a dangerous liar who will be executing and implementing P2025 while Trump's waves and dances and pretends that's he's the boss. When it's politically expedient, Vance will initiate Trump's removal because it will be clear that Trump is mentally ill and cognitively impaired and unable to complete the duties of his office.

The rhetoric is getting pretty extreme and detached from reality, isn't it

Yes. A demented man was replaced with Harris because his party saw that he had no chance of winning so they pushed him put. Only days before proclaiming "he is as sharp as a tool.". If only it was about his health and not retaining power.
I see that as another possible Trump presidency nears, the shift has extended to Vance. As the democrats and left msm have failed in changing the minds of half Americans that Trump is the evil orange man.
So now insert fantastical scarry stories of Vance's plot to stage a take over.
I thought it would be clear that "Trump is mentally ill" the first time.
Desperation isn't a great look.
toomuchbaloney said:You felt safer under Biden but violent crime was higher during his administration. Are you basing you assessment of Trump's presidency exclusively on feelings or is their room for measurable benchmarks?
nursej22 said:I guess as long as you feel safe, that's what counts.
Turns out Trump was right. Again. It's remarkable how often this happens. And how slow the liberal propagandist press is to cover it.
"President Trump, as you know, the FBI says overall violent crime is actually coming down in this country," Muir responded.
Trump immediately pushed back.
Excuse me," Trump told Muir. "They were defrauding statements. They didn't include the worst cities. They didn't include the cities with the worst crime. It was a fraud. Just like their number of 818,000 jobs that they said they created turned out to be a fraud."
A recent FBI revision appears to back Trump. After reporting there was a 2.1% drop in violent crimes in 2022, the FBI now admits there was actually a 4.5% increase. "
In your assessment of the Trump vs Biden presidencies, is there room for measurable benchmarks? Or will it be based on feelings?
Will the rhetoric from the left and anti-Trumpers make room for the truth? Or continue to be detached from reality?

Nicely said. And as per usual, there is very few comments on here about the true violent crime stats. I have mentioned a few times. Just the usual defects of covid and racism...
And of course the quiet way the FBI updated the information is completely ignored.
It really makes you wonder what other things Trump has said that democrats claim were a 'lie" or "misinformation ". How many times the the stats get quietly updated?
How convenient Harris wants to prevent "misinformation".
It does not look good for the people who laugh when Trump says some government intstiutions are corrupt and or call him a liar.
I imagine no feelings will be considered as the disingenuous left activist do not really care about violent crime stats or the victims of these crimes. They only care when they can exploit the numbers to suit their narrative. Same goes for illegal immigrants and POC. They are only usfull when they are trying to exploit them. It seems that even young blk men are starting to see this, that's why Obama had to tel them in so many words, " if you vote for Harris, you ain't bllk".
