The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

"It's a terrible, terrible path that they're leading us to, and it's very possible that it's going to have to happen to them,” ....

Trump continued, "Wouldn't it be terrible to throw the president's wife and the former secretary of state, think of it, the former secretary of state, but the president's wife, into jail. Wouldn't that be a terrible thing, but they want to do it.”.... It's very possible it might happen to them."

Speaker Johnson vows to 'fight back... with everything in our arsenal' after Trump verdict

"We are the rule of law party. Chaos is not a conservative value. We have to fight back, and we will with everything in our arsenal. But we will do that within the confines of the rule of law," Johnson said....

"We believe in our institutions. We are conservatives, and we are trying to conserve the greatest country in the history of the world. And its institutions are an important part of that. Our system of justice is an important part of that," he added.

  • Appropriations Committee prohibit the use of taxpayer dollars from funding the Biden Administration's open-border immigration policies.

• Reining in abusive federal law enforcement agencies  ...have received testimony about egregious abuses, misallocation of federal law-enforcement resources, and misconduct within the leadership ranks of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). We recommend that the Appropriations Committee include language to eliminate any funding for the FBI that is not essential for the agency to execute its mission, including rescinding prior appropriations and prohibiting new taxpayer funding for any new FBI headquarters facility. We also recommend tying funding for the FBI to specific policy changes—such as requiring the FBI to record interviews—that will promote accountability and transparency
• Stopping politicized prosecutions.  ...recommend that the Appropriations Committee, with appropriate consultation from leadership, include language to eliminate federal funding for state prosecutors or state attorneys general
involved in lawfare and to zero out federal funding for federal prosecutors engaged in such abuse. In addition, the Judiciary Committee has passed specific bills that would help to address politicized prosecutions and we encourage the Appropriations Committee to consider including the policies contained in each: H.R. 2553, the No More Political Prosecutions Act, and H.R. 2595, the Forfeiture Funds Expenditure Transparency Act...

Well the demorats set the precedent didn't they? Don't worry, if they are not guilty then they won't be prosecuted..... right? Any court finding them guilty will be held as totally 100 percent not bias right?

NRSKaren, thank you. Nothing like a blast from the past!

I lived most of my childhood in eastern Massachusetts. A lot of local NYC news percolated up to us. I've been hearing about Trump off and on ever since. He made my permanent bowel book when he attacked the Central Park Five.

Trump's criminal history goes back to at least the sixties. If you want to know what he'll do with the country, just look at New York City's experience with him. Crime family, indeed.

It's nice that white collar criminals get some free time to tidy up their lives before they go to jail.  How many of Trump's associates are now convicts or criminals?

Why Trump may lose 2024: He's a convicted felon along with his CFO, 2016 chair, WH aides & lawyers

Interesting that they're saying Trump will lose only because he's a convicted felon.  Doesn't say much for Joe, does it?

In the MSNBC video Is that what was said or did he outline and talk about the crimes and convictions that swirl around Trump and his inner circle? I didn't hear the fellow say anything about Biden, for or against.  Maybe you were referencing something specific.

Felony convictions and close association with many other criminals is a good reason for someone to lose a bid for the presidency, except in the era of Trump.

And, it seems to many it's the only reason Trump would lose to Biden.
