Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:
1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?
2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?
3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.
Not much left to add. Says it all.
So...clarify the drinking game rules for me...do we only do a shot when someone posts "mean" or "fomite" in this thread, or does it apply to all the posts from Super Special Snowflakes as well?
I'm off work in a few hours and want to know how many I need to do to catch up when I get home.

You'd better consider early intubation for airway protection. I can't imagine you staying conscious long if you were to take a shot for every fomite.
OK, come on. I need a link to see this thread. It must be something else if there were two posts in a row about it.
Re: Special Snowflake........
Bummer! I finally find the thread...get my fur ruffled, mainly because of how she "dissed" two of my favorite AN members in her response to their posts...and with fingers twitching, I get ready to jump into the fray...only to find it was closed......permanently......drat!
You see, I too, have "special" needs....
I was a single mother, too, who does have disabilties...
I had to walk to nursing school, uphill, in the snow, barefoot...and it was uphill...BOTH ways!
(ok, kidding about that)....
I had to actually do my homework....using, gasp, the library because I didn't have acccess to the internet and my lap top back then!!
So I couldn't post on all nurses to ask for any advices!!!
What I couldn't grasp was, don't they have any hospitals in Canada??????
She made it sound like she had NO access to any nurses!
Jeeezzzzz, either ultimate sense of entitlement or ultimate laziness!
I'm a quadriplegic and my nursing program said I won't pass if I can't pass my skills tests. Am I being discriminated against?
The thing about those kinds of threads is that I just don't even know what to say.
There was a thread running about someone who had hearing problems. She was talking about all these issues she was encountering with her stethoscope, and it seemed that she was blaming that for every difficulty she was having in school.
But then she was talking about overhearing some students gossiping -- how did she do that if she was hard of hearing? And then it came out that she was failing out of her fundamentals class, and somehow, she had connected that to her stethoscope too.
I did work one time with a nurse who was deaf and she did a fantastic job, and I had a lot of respect for her. But that particular poster seemed to be thinking that the reason she was failing was her hearing, when it was actually that she wasn't able to keep up with the course work.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to meet up with one of those posters in real life. Would she seem like a perfectly normal person going through the day-to-day? Just with a simmering rage under the surface that only comes out on the internet?
Or is this someone you would meet in the supermarket who would beat you over the head with a loaf of bread to get first in line at the cash register?

But that would require her to leave her child and go somewhere and do the work herself! Why do that when you can post on the good old internet - because of course the answers supplied will be posted by a real nurse and the answers will be truthful. Everytime I see these posts, I just want to answer with the most outrageous answers I can come up with.
Additionaly, she had no friends who were nurses, or even friends of friends who were nurses.

Just reading the original post gave me a headache! Talk about not accepting responsiblity for yourself. I liked how she had Mommy and Daddy help her solve her problems too!
