Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:
1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?
2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?
3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.
Not much left to add. Says it all.
Well. I guess I have no choice. I'm going to have to check out the criminal forum. I have my face and my palm at the ready.
I'm the original author of the FAQ at the bottom of the forum. Back when it was written (2006) the topic didn't warrant a forum of it's own but there had been enough posts to need a unified response. I'll be up front, I have a criminal history resulting from a very ugly divorce in the early 90s and there was a lot of bad behavior on both of our parts. Back in 2006 those were the kind of inquiries we saw; old stuff usually with a plausable explaination. The questions that get asked 'these days' actually makes me fear for the profession.
And I love, love "emotional Sherpa", I've already added it to my vocabulary.
So after kicking hubby and kids out the door, instead of sleeping I checked out pathophizz. Makes me wish we didn't have to wear only blue & white nowadays. The patterns in development especially...the cholera and syphillis ones are actually really cool looking, and God love whoever came up with the idea to have the cocaine on the brain PET scan pattern.
While google searching, I found a webpage about chlorinated silk, which apparently (per the website, at least) insta-kills anthrax, which it is assumed we are all in dire fear of as healthcare professionals due to the risk of bioterrorism attacks. What really got me was this, though:
"Chlorinated silk hospital gowns, sheets, and curtains could also be extremely helpful... [if used] the level of secondary infections could decrease dramatically. Of course, silk isn’t cheap, and it is unclear if this method would be cost-effective. But, if lives are saved, then is any cost too high?"
Hahahahahahahaha...obviously someone who has never been exposed to the evils of hospital budgets...oh the misperceptions that abound. In my area we're seeing a departure from the prior status quo of "Penny wise, pound foolish" to "Penny stupid, pound ridiculously idiotic". (It just doesn't have the same ring to it though, does it?)

I laughed with you lol!
Also, when I think of silk sheets, I think of animal print, mirrors on the ceiling and silk's propensity to slide you off the bed.
I imagined each patient room will be turned into a love cave with a Barry White soundtrack. Turning patients will be so effortless. So much so that they'll be turned onto on the floor.
