I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.
Get out the popcorn for this one.
QuoteFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

I lived in Boston when this happened, working on an inpatient AIDS unit in a state hospital. This is what made trump a hard no for me. Those who refuse to learn from history ...

You should do your own homework. I find it interesting that you've been commenting all this time about politics and you don't understand what right wing means. It's rude that you immediately demand that I define it for you.
Do you ever inform yourself outside of social media or right wing rags?
It seems you do not have a definition hence the non answer reply.....

Right. Like at the time every one thought they were guilty and were convicted and later found to be innocent and falsely convicted. Thisvl wasnt just Trump's opinion.
Yes. Good ol' Sharpton. Exploiting victims of racism to line his own pockets. ...

Sure. Spin that however you need to. I'm not playing that game with you. If you don't know what it means look it up. If you think we need to verify that we have the same definition you should verify that by offering up a definition. I don't have any question what "right wing" means so I have no need to initiate that exercise.
Trump tried this same tactic at the event with the black journalists asking the social media silliness... how do you define DEI.

"Every one" definitely did not think they were guilty and everyone definitely did not spend thousands of dollars on newspaper ads demanding that the death penalty be reinstated just for them. Trump stands out for that loud judgment.
You call it exploitation to remind the public how awful of a person Trump has long been. Even before his mental illness was out of control, it made him a selfish and hateful bully and liar. I call it a duty to warn. We have a duty to remind and tell people of all the many ways that Trump is unfit to serve as POTUS.

He has long been antagonistic against Trump.
His point was the full page ads he took demanding the death penalty against the boys. Did he take out any full page ads against any other murderers and rapists? One of the accused said the was the firestarter or at least a feeder of the flames and hate that set New York afire. After a documentary about the Central Park five his main statements were that it was one-sided and didn't focus on the crimes they did commit, saying "innocent of what? How many people they mugged?".
All of this is old news. When the verdict was overturned he was asked for statements and made no apologies or admission that he was wrong. Also he was featured in the documentary which he and others criticized and it was dug up yet again.
Obviously good old Al Sharpton still wanted to exploit those times to demonize Trump even more. I was surprised he dug up those bones. I don't think that was necessary.
I'm not sure why you're thinking he's lining his pockets here in this case.
Yes, he does seem to make an appearance many times there have been victims of racism. (Think George Floyd?) What you call "exploiting victims of racism to line his own packets", another might say "civil rights activist". meh

Whether one calls it exploiting or activism largely depends upon which side of that discussion about racism one defends most often.
Some Kennedy's are figuring out how they can rise from the grave.
QuoteRobert F. Kennedy Jr. endorsed former President Donald Trump Friday afternoon during a lengthy speech putting to rest his tumultuous independent presidential campaign.
Quote"Kamala Harris has, since she got in this race, had the best 30 days in American politics I've seen in a very long time," he said. "But she is still tied [in the polls]. The Democrats have clawed up from five points down to tied. So it's still a tight race with 75 days left. "
The mood here may have hit fever pitch last night, but a toss-up race shows that Democrats still have a lot of work to do if they are to be sure of winning the White House.
So apparently Kennedy says:
QuoteIn an honest system, I believe I would have won the election," he argued. "I no longer believe that I have a realistic past of electoral victory in the face of this relentless, systematic censorship and media control."
which seems delusional but SOP I suppose when things like truth and science and things you don't want to hear get in the way.
QuoteKennedy charged in an event in Phoenix, Arizona that the Democratic Party "waged continual legal warfare against both President Trump and myself," and "ran a sham primary."
Again instead of dealing with the DNC's results it's about the "sham primary" stuff. But he also says he's taking himself off of some state's ballots but staying on others, presumably where it would benefit Trump to take some votes. But yet he talks about being unfair and a sham. Okay then.

QuoteBut, in about 10 battleground states, where my presence would be a spoiler, I'm going to remove my name, and I've already started that process and urge voters not to vote for me.”
