The election 2024 Thread

Published

I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.

Get out the popcorn for this one.

Quote

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

Is that part of the delusion?  I bet you could search through the relevant threads hoping to find that reference, but you won't.  The typical Trumpian tactic is just to claim nonsense as if it's true and then ignore all evidence that it's nonsense and repeat the same messaging later as if none of us can remember that it's nonsense.

I'm for real.  No the system doesn't favor Trump, it favors wealthy people who can afford to delay justice and buy judges and justices.  A judge just dismissed a case against Trump.  She doesn't even mind that Trump lies about what she did.  That's how little integrity she has.  The Supremes abused precedent to cause that.

I don't expect you to know about any of that.

Do you have facts and evidence to support that Trump "bought" the judge who dismissed the case ? Do you have any evidence of her incompetence?  Or is it like so much in these threads that ypur opinion reins superior because it's your opinion? Perhaps you have some unconscious misogynistic bias because the judge is a woman?

It's interesting that you try to invoke distrust in our justice system and media. Isn't that the act of a far right fascist?  A method from Hitlers play book? As you have so often accused Republicans of?

Any justice that doesn't go the way you want is incomplete and corrupt.  Got it.

It seems many have grandiose narcissism traits in "the era of Trump".

Who will claim that there were no gaffes and he was perfect?  Are you talking about some social media bot that gets low into Americans all agitated?

Given that Trump is the candidate who has made ridiculous claims about his perfect health or his perfect phone calls or his perfect intellect, I'll just dismiss that as fantastical thinking trying to be a projection.  Hyperbole and fabricated concerns are the backbone of Trump's reelection strategy with a nice side serving of she can't possibly be black or qualified and  she must be DEI or elevated on sexual favors.

Team Trump seems awfully salty about the enthusiastic convention that is launching Harris's campaign in ways that the GOP convention couldn't launch Trump's.

Correct.  Right wing extremists don't negotiate in good faith.  They are liars, the lot and all of the leaders involved in that violence are right wing extremists... including the American republican reportedly attempting to meddle.

Are you saying that the terrorist hamas supporting "protestors" are right wing extreemist Trump supporters? Looool. Oh dear......

Did you think I was refering to the rhetoric arround Bush was in these threads? LOL You think that comment was directed at you? And your content?

Wow. It seems Trump's grandiose symptoms are ccontagious. Hopefully there will be a vaccine for that.

That's one of the most entertaining spin jobs I've heard in quite sometime.  Nice job!

Thank you.

I guess you must disagree that Trump supporters aren't still talking about Biden's retirement and that the Trump campaign is pretty focused upon the past and perceived slights and grievances.

I don't think that is the man focus of their campaign, it's the border, inflations and things like that.  But just the other day instead of issues like this we were talking about how Biden was tossed assigned unwillingly and we weren't holding Harris accountable for her "Big Lie" that Biden was fine and we've had to go over and over about Biden dropping out and how Democrats conducted themselves rather than deal with the fact that it's a done deal.

But yes, Trump is all about old grievances as well. .  So it's not a spin.

Trump is back on the campaign trail in NC.  Stating without evidence that 100s and thousands of murderers have been sent from Venezuela and that he can restore world peace with a telephone call.  Of note he was behind a bullet proof glass (don't blame him).  It seemed to end with gay disco anthem "YMCA".

I have no idea what you are referencing most of the time.  In this and many other instances I think you are just agitating. You are just trying to get a reaction.

For instance you make this tongue in cheek remark about Trump's symptoms being contagious while also apparently not realizing that a crazy man's delusions can most definitely spread within a group that is influenced by that crazy man. Shared delusions are not uncommon in a cult.  An example of a shared Trump delusion is the belief that the 2020 election was plagued by fraud or that January 6, 2021 was nothing more than a simple protest that got out of hand.  Google folie a deux.

The best treatment for that kind of contagion is removal of the crazy guy from a position of influence and introduction of cleansing facts and reality.  The vaccine equivalent would be reliance upon credible sources for information, more books less cable television and social media.

Here are my words that you quoted too justify the above comment; "Correct.  Right wing extremists don't negotiate in good faith.  They are liars, the lot and all of the leaders involved in that violence are right wing extremists... including the American republican reportedly attempting to meddle."

Netanyahu = right wing extremist LEADER of Israel

Hamas = right wing extremists LEADERS of Gaza

Trump = right wing extremist LEADER of GOP

Right wing extremism = lies and bad faith negotiations

Did I simplify that adequately for you to understand this time?  Maybe you didn't understand what I meant by using the word "leaders" and that caused you to confuse the leaders with protesters in the USA.  Or maybe you were just agitating with nonsense again because that certainly doesn't appear to be an attempt at the meaningful discussion you've said you come here to engage in.

One of the things NEB and I have remarked upon is the difference in the background music and musical guests so far in these conventions.  The DNC certainly has the benefit of some pretty popular and current artists wanting to be associated with the Harris campaign.  The music is good! The state's roll call play list is now part of my Spotify Playlist.

There's evidence of Cannon's relative inexperience and incompetence.  She was reversed in her weird management of the Trump documents case by the 11th circuit Court earlier. Aren't you aware of that? You aren't aware of the questions about her judgement? I'm not surprised.

There's at least progress when you can begin to acknowledge that strategies from the fascists playbook are currently utilized in the USA to decrease the trust and confidence that Americans have in their institutions.  It's not clear that you are yet able to see who is using that strategy but at least you acknowledge that it's a strategy of fascists as they attempt to dismantle a democracy and grab power for themselves.

Randomly projecting Trumpian traits onto others is weird.  It's also weird when health professionals can't acknowledge textbook and obvious examples of symptoms of an illness in the public view.  It's weird when those same health professionals who were eager to describe Biden as demented (in spite of the evidence that he's just old) but are unable to acknowledge obvious mental illness AND signs of cognitive decline in a different candidate.

I will admit that you using the language "many have grandiose narcissism traits"  conjures up Trump's "many people" shtick and it made me laugh out loud.

Yes. Instead if acknowledging the pro terrorist movement, you divert to "right wing....". Suggesting the terrorist supporters of Hamas are "right wing".

No you didn't clear up anything. What is "right wing" Don't tell me WHO is right wing according to your opinion but what are the parameters for "right wing"? What's the definition?

By the way, calling the Jewish leader  "right wing" is almost hilarious but not really when we consider the holocaust.
