I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.
Get out the popcorn for this one.
QuoteFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

It was a very uncommon thing to do, announce release sorting an awards show. The marketing was intuitive. I'm also guilty of having her music peppered into my Spotify.
Cult Fandom has been a thing for awhile. Those cults aren't generally dangerous as they typically aren't trying to attain political power or overthrow democracies, like right wing extremists cults might

The whole event has a lot of marketing going on pre and post interviews mostly, but not during an acceptance speech. Due Lipa weaved her new single into her retrospective at the beginning. Either way, it's still kind of low class to win an award for one record and announce when you're dropping your new one.
Macy Gray famously did self-promotion during one of the awards should back in the day. LOL
I also was intrigued by the idea of Biden and democrats undoing Trump's border policies and wanting chaos. Biden certainly has nothing to gain by the chaos at the border and Republicans have everything to gain as it's a top concern of voters.
That being said:
Quotea massive surge of migration in the Western Hemisphere has scrambled the dynamics of an issue that has vexed presidents for decades, and radically reshaped the political pressures on Mr. Biden and his administration. Instead of becoming the president who quickly reversed his predecessor's policies, Mr. Biden has repeatedly tried to curtail the migration of a record number of people — and the political fallout that has created — by embracing, or at least tolerating, some of Mr. Trump's anti-immigrant approaches.
Even, it turns out, the wall.

The Biden administration was fine with the chaos until they realized it's coming around to bite them. After three years, all of a sudden it finally is a crisis to them. It's not like the Republicans have been quiet about until now. And, as I've mentioned twice now in the past few days the House did pass a bill a year ago. So, the argument that they don't want it fixed doesn't make much sense.

I agree that the border is a serious failure. What is your SOLUTION? Biden is following our amnesty regs. I'm pretty sure that people on both sides do not want unvetted people coming in. What is it you want Biden to do? Trump would have the national guard shoot them if he could get away with it. Solutions???

That's not a serious bill. Everyone knows it. Writing legislation involves compromise. House Republicans are not serious people. They only want what is not possible in a two party government. That's why they continually threaten to shut down the government to get what they want, they don't believe in negotiations.
They are skilled at obstruction and not at all focused upon our skilled governing. Now they are gambling that Americans living outside of the right wing cult will believe the propaganda rather than the facts about immigration and border security when November rolls around. All they have to do is create confusion and chaos around the issue. They just need to muddy the waters of information and hope more people settle into the fabricated narrative as they navigate the confusion. That's what fascists do when they are trying to take control.
Rep. Santos replaced with a Democrat: Tom Suozzi will win the special election in New York's 3rd Congressional District; 13,00 more votes than Republican Mazi Melesa Pilip. Final count here. CNN reported that Pilip conceded special election. He is expected to be sworn in Thursday, resulting in just 3 vote Republican majority.

I was addressing that you said Biden undid Trump policies. He did and he didn't. He stopped the wall, he started to address DACA, and stopped the ban on Muslims. But as the article states, kept others.
I can understand the idea that they were okay with the chaos because they tended to downplay the "chaos at the border" headlines saying they had it under control. But I disagree with the idea they were okay with it and all of a sudden they are concerned. It has been a thorn in their side since before the inauguration when caravans of people were headed to the border in anticipation of him becoming President.
Trump obviously was more harsh on border policy than Biden and there is much to criticize. We need to work together and stop this blame game. But that's not going to happen in an election year.
Since this is the election thread. Santos's seat in the House flipped.

The point was that they've been claiming for three years that there was no crisis and the border was secure.
Now that they have realized that they have underestimated the importance of this issue to the voter, suddenly it is a crisis and it's Trump's fault that the Republicans didn't go along with a bad bill.
To start with, I'd secure the border and enforce that asylum can only be claimed at official points of entry.

Sure.
Of course the people who have been shouting about the crisis and national security threat at our border just recently decided that it's not enough of a crisis to debate bipartisan legislation crafted in the Senate.
Too bad those Republicans wouldn't support the bill which would have addressed both of the things you mentioned. They felt it was better for Trump to continue to just complain about the issue rather than govern. No real surprise there. The surprise might be just how many people are too indoctrinated to see what's really going on with the GOP. Apparently that indoctrination now has them suggesting that maybe it wasn't Trump that killed that legislation. Someone on team Trump must have decided that it's not a good look for Trump to be controlling congress from the campaign trail and courtrooms. A tiny spin of the narrative and, ta da, it's just a Democrat story that Trump nixed the bill with his Republicans in the House.
Propaganda is so effective with Trump's base, it's stunning. And dangerous.
