I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.
Get out the popcorn for this one.
QuoteFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.
Crusades said:Too bad your unqualified diagnosis isn't supported by and evidence other than your own grandiose opinion. Even far left msm isn't running the mental health propaganda anymore. Too bad the other half of the US population will decide what Trump is or is not, not you.
Any comments can be distorted and used as propaganda.
Great speech at the Detroit Economic Forum Today:
QuoteTrump: These things were coming cylinders, no wings, no nothing, and they're coming down very slowly, landing on a raft in the middle of the ocean someplace with a circle, reminded me of the Biden circles that he used to have.. then I heard we lost
Full speech:
Trashes Detroit ..unbelievable amount of incoherent rambling..barely can speak in complete sentences on a specific idea without veering off on a tangent.
Insightful commentary by Fox2 viewers:

- Holy crap. independent here trying to keep an open mind, but this was horrible. This was his worst outting so far. Terrible effort to gain a vote.
- With this concept of his proposed plan we'll be in a Recession by next Summer.
- So he has dementia, right? Some of this was very incoherent.
- Trump has no energy. What happened? All he can do these days is deliver a stream of things he makes up. He seems so lost.
- What a s--t show! OMG... Did the rambling ol demented geezer get around to talking "economics"? Does he even know where he is? And is that egg on his face?
- No way in the world do I ever want this man to have the codes to our nuclear weapons ever again.
So the public -- potential voters - are talking about Trumps dementia.
Crusades said:What "professional voices" ? Yours? The profession Or cherry picked "professionals" on CNN and MSNBC? Who have not assessed Trump?
I have a nursing specialty in dementia/geriatrics care and even I do not diagnosis Biden as in decline definitely. You can't even admit the obvious sighs in Biden other than he's "old and wise" so you professional opinion is irrelevant.
"Racist. ...bla bla...." 2016 wants it's propaganda back.
Professional voices like Dr Bandy Lee.
Yes, you said you have a specialty in geriatrics and dementia care and yet you were certain that Biden shows signs of dementia (he doesn't) and you can't see the obvious signs of dementia or mental illness in Trump. It's pretty odd that a specialist like yourself can't discern the difference between normal aging and the changes associated with dementia.
Dismissing Trump's character flaws only reflects upon the person dismissing the disqualifying traits. Only certain people are comfortable expressing support for a racist felon and fraud who is a pathological liar. There was a time when Americans wouldn't want to be publicly associated with support of a well known liar and cheater and philanderer who stole money from a charity and ran a scam university before he tried to overthrow election results. They would have been embarrassed. Today is different. Today we live in the era of Trump, when millions of people are unduly influenced by a mentally ill man and they wear his image on their clothing and fly his flag, even while they are attacking the Capitol for his benefit.
It sounds like 2024 Trump support just doesn't care about racism in 2024. Maybe Trump really needs the support of the racists this election cycle to stay competitive in this race.
Maybe it will help Trump to tell voters in Detroit that if they don't vote for him that the whole country will be as bad as Detroit. Most of us think that's a crazy thing to say. Most of us think that is some ugliness that persists in the racist corners of Trump's brain. Trump's disinhibition (associated with his dementia) makes it difficult for him to moderate his inappropriate language. This is also most likely why Trump uses measurably more cussing and vulgarity in his public speaking today as compared to 2016 and 2020. Is this a feature of dementia that you are familiar with, disinhibition?

I have not personally assessed either Biden or Trump. Nor am I aware of any assessment by a Dr.
"Dr. Bandy Lee" has not assess either of them. You could easily find another Dr that would dispute cognitive decline. Hence the phenomenon of a second opinion. Especially when potentially politically motivated.
I do see narcissistic traits in Trump and perhaps some lingual recall deficit and/or improper use of words associated with age and we saw in 2016.. Dementia is progressive and doesn't get worse when one decides to run for POTUS a 3rd time. There would be marked changes over time. I see very little difference of Trump's "cognitive" decline in 8 years. This is not consistent with dementia. Biden however has significantly changed over 4 yrs.
It's odd a retired nurse who is not specialized in mental illness or dementia should provide a definitive diagnosis when not qualified to do so.

Here again with the guilt by association fallacy. Do you have something to say without trying to taint the person who has a opposing opinion than you? People who usually use this fallacy are either insecure with their point or desperate.

This is a deflect an an attempt to scare me with "racism". Doesn't work with me, try something else. We were discussing dementia/mental illness.

Possibly. Do you remember that 1 symptom doesn't qualify for diagnosis? Check the DSM for criteria.

Do you think the people in Detroit are too stupid to understand that democrat policies are a major factor to the failure of their city?
toomuchbaloney said:
Correct, the popular vote doesn't elect the president. The popular vote reflected Trump's relative unpopularity both in 2016 and again in 2020. I think it's going to, once again, reflect that Trump isn't that popular.
Too bad a popularity contest does not determine the election.

I admit I don't know much about Detroit. I've heard the baseball team is doing well.
In what way is it failing?
Crusades said:Of course not. Inflation was Trump's fault.
I don't think that's true. Do you have a source for that statement?

Housing is affordable, so everything must be going well.

It's difficult to comprehend the phenomenon which has so many people denying these truths and, seemingly, attaching political identity to their personal identities. That was very dangerous when it happened in Germany in the early 20th century.
