I was wondering what the GPA of the average student applying to an accelerated program is. Mine is 3.6. Is this good? Do you think I am in a good position for being accepted? Do you guys thinks being a male helps in getting accepted? I was just wondering as there are so few male nurses out there. Just looking to see what my chances are. By the way, I am applying to NYU's accelerated program, so if there are any guys out there who are doing the same or have gone through their program I would really like to hear from you...
Thanks everyone!:nuke:
3.0, just accepted to an Accelerated BSN. I had tons of extra curriculars and research though.
I have a descent GPA which I worked hard to maintain. Although I thought it was fun to state it at one time, I am way over it, I do not need to see an other's GPA to make myself feel better, nor do I need to post mine for others with less to feel bad. Rarely do I see one of these threads started that includes..."my GPA is 2.0 what's yours?" seems like the majority of these are started as bragging rights; like, "My GPA is better than your GPA, neener neener"...and if I see one more person say "Is a 3.8 GPA good enough?"...its like a skinny person say, "Does this make me look fat?"
I feel that this tread is good motivation for people who would like to raise their gpa...
With my first degree I had a 3.3. For all of the prequisites - A&P 1 and 2, micro, chem, stat I had a 4.0. So these are the GPA's I applied for the acclerated program with. They focused on the 4.0 mainly and saw my desire to become a nurse. The application process wasn't one of my favorites, as all they looked at were transcripts. The program I am in received 300 applications and accepted 45 students. The program also has a scholarship option with a local hospital that offers to pay your tuition, buy your books, and give you 500 bucks a month in exchange for 3 years of employment with that hospital. To recieve this funding, we had to interview with the hospital and sign a contract if the interview went well.
Graduated in June '08, started working in Aug '08. Here's how many people have asked what my GPA was: 0That includes the managers who interviewed and hired me....
Thanks for posting this:yeah:. Although I have a high GPA that I am proud of I think it is important to assure people that one's GPA means very little outside of school. If you can qualify for your degree and RN or LPN license
that is what counts. Much more important is who you are and what you have to offer as a person and nurse;).
