Tell me your GPA. Just wanna compare

Nursing Students Male Students

Published

I was wondering what the GPA of the average student applying to an accelerated program is. Mine is 3.6. Is this good? Do you think I am in a good position for being accepted? Do you guys thinks being a male helps in getting accepted? I was just wondering as there are so few male nurses out there. Just looking to see what my chances are. By the way, I am applying to NYU's accelerated program, so if there are any guys out there who are doing the same or have gone through their program I would really like to hear from you...

Thanks everyone!:nuke:

Rockin' the 4.0 here and bustin' my ass every day for it. :D Most of the way through the first semester of my senior year. Took the maximum allowable class load a few semesters and in accelerated program so I took full semesters in the summer too. :) I hope the work I have put in helps me pass the NCLEX and provide the best patient care possible. :heartbeat I also hope it helps me get into a GN program at my hospital of choice. :smokin: I expect that will be the last time (until grad school) anyone looks at or cares about my GPA. I have to agree with both sides of this thread, hard work and perseverence mean something especially in the challenge of a nursing program, but I know many of my fellow students have a better knowledge base for patient care, more experience and at least as much brains (gotta be a little nassistic rite?). :chuckle Grades definitely don't make the nurse from my experiences in clinical and as a CNA but intelligent and well educated nurses can save lives. I can only hope that "us guys with our measuring" can get over it when we have life experience as nurses that outweighs the meaning of measure. :redbeathe Lives and love matter more than all of the rest put together! :twocents:

Well said and well played.

There is not much I do. lol.

I love the 4.0 students the ego is so huge when a lesser grade student confounds them they panic like a deer in headlights, it is so much fun, try it sometimes.

Just because you didn't get the A doesn't mean you tried to get it, Not trying and geting the A- or B+ is much more rewarding.

Intellect>Grades. Grades mean very little to nothing in the end. = watch for the egomanics 4.0 students reply to this saying. haha

Tell me about it we had a nurse that worked at our LTC... she let every one know how smart she was... she was asked to resign last week because of all the errors she made... had no Critical thinking skills.

How did you get into nursing school with a 2.7? The school I'm looking at wants a 3.5 just to take your application, Never mind the impaction scoring.
