Hello,
I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.
I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.
I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.
Oh I hope they pick soon!!
I went to the gym at the TRC yesterday and walked over to the new building where the nursing program will be. It took me 6 minutes to walk. I walked all around the new building. I'm not crazy about the brutalist architecture of the new building. I think it's pretty common on college campuses, I just don't know why. lol. With that being said, I am glad there are lots of windows in the building. I did like the sunken plaza. I hope it will be used by students before and after classes, etc. They did have a lot of trees planted along the streets, so that is nice. I would really like to see the river side of the building. Hopefully there are views like at the TRC. Th one thing that I was concerned about was the parking. I am really wondering where that will be. I have seen a few posts about that being an issue, and it certainly seems it will be. Just like anotherhopeful1 said, there is just a tiny lot next to it. I could see that being used for faculty or something, but it is quite small. I am really curious. Surely they must have something figured out.
I just called and spoke with B... I asked when letters would be mailed out and she said it will be some time in May. She said they are trying to get everything moved over to the new campus, and are waiting on vital information, like room numbers and such to include in the letters. She also said a decision on the number of students accepted has not been made yet either. So... the waiting game continues.
And as far as parking goes, I'm wondering if they'll request for everyone to park in the garage attached to the TR campus and walk to the new building (since it's only a 6 minute walk). Unless they have an agreement with another garage (I think there is one a block away that accommodates the Tarrant County employees). I can't imagine them just not addressing the issue all together and expecting us to find our own parking spots.
I was thinking that too. I would not have a problem walking other than in bad weather. I can imagine that some would not be happy about that though. Also, I don't think the garage at trc is big enough. They already have an overflow lot that they have to shuttle people in from. I guess that could be an option as well, having students shuttled over. I personally have not had to use the overflow lot, but I have seen signs posted about it on campus. Hmmm, I can't wait for the new buildings to open. I am so curious as to how it will look inside and to see what the parking will be like.
Does anyone know what other programs/ classes will be in the new part of the campus?
I read a blog about urban design and urban guidelines, etc for fort worth. The author has written about the east campus a few times before. He said in his most recent post about the new campus buildings that there would be several blocks of surface parking lots(no garages) near the building.
I am guessing they would be beside the small lot that I saw yesterday.
I agree with Val. That shouldn't matter. I was accepted to wc and there is nothing in my packet about room numbers. The only thing it says is where orientation would be.
It seems like they are either pulling our legs or they are completely unorganized. they have known about the new building and the program moving for a while. I'm not sure why this issue with room numbers wasn't addressed before or why they can't improvise and work around it. I can understand and appreciate that they may be trying to accept more students. But seriously, I hope they can figure it out soon. I really hope we don't have to wait til after may to find out. Maybe they are pulling our legs?!
