Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

Yes, they are hole punched. The CID for clinical is super thick too. I paid 4.25 for the clinical one and 2.00 dollars for the foundation one.

Thanks loly. I printed the foundations and clinical, just not the skills one because it wasn't up. I'll just purchase that one at the campus. I have a lot to do this weekend and Monday. I'm hoping to go purchase my scrubs and stethoscope as well. After that I will just have my drug screen and CPR. I am doing the CPR at the campus on the 22nd.

My financial aid appeal was approved!!!!! Thank God!

Congrats Val! That must be a huge weight lifted. Does anyone know what the testing fees and lab fees will be? I think I read somewhere that all nursing theory courses will have testing fees. I am wondering what those are since I am paying this out of pocket.

All lab fees and testing fees are included in the individual class cost when you register. I think they are about $20 or so and only paid a couple of times. Skills had it and I think in Complex you will pay a small fee.

Thanks TXmommy! That isn't bad at all. That makes me worry about tuition a lot less.

I haven't posted in forever because I've been out of town but I ordered my name tags on the 2nd week of June and still haven't been told that they are in. I'm going up there again to see if they are in but when I went to check about 2 1/2 weeks ago they still hadn't even mailed mine out. In fact, she pulled out a huge stack (about 15 people) that they hadn't mailed out yet. I hope mine are in by Tuesday when I go up there to check! :)

Wow, sounds like I should get my name tags ordered soon then.

Where are you guys finding your scrubs and labcoats? I went to Scrubs, etc. today, and just felt completely overwhelmed by it all. There are like 10 or so major brands, each brand has 2 or 3 different styles (of tops and bottoms)... I've never been so frustrated in my life! A small top in one brand would be too small, a medium top in another brand was way too big. I'm not used to wearing scrubs, so I'm not sure if I had a different idea of how they should fit, but it was aggrivating to say the least. I ended up coming home with Urbane brand pants, Grey's Anatomy (Barco) brand tops and a Dickies labcoat. LOL! No one ever said they all had to be the same brand! :p Anyway, I have 30 days to reutrn it all if I wish. Was just wondering if y'all had any recommendations on other places to shop or other brands to look for?

I ordered my name tags from the TR campus. I ordered one the first time and it was ready in just under two weeks. And when I picked it up I decided to order a second one and they called my Friday and said it was ready. The TR campus usually gets them in within a week and a half.....

Lol yeah that could be it.. I ordered from south campus bc it's closer to me!

I got my scrubs at the uniform store in grapevine mills mall. I drove all the way there because I've heard good things about what they carry. I'm very peitite and have curves so it was really tough for me to find anything plus I'm only 5 ft. I finally found Koi scrub pants that are petite size and it amazingly! Then my tops are greys anatomy by barco.

Do you know the name of the store at Grapevine Mills? My husband said the only scrubs store he remembers seeing out there was closed with a sign saying that a Ross was being put in (he was out there last week). I was going to call first, before making the drive out there, to see if they were still open.

It's called Uniform Destination. Your husband is right though.. There used to be a huge one and they shut it down to put a Ross in. If you go into the mall on the south end it's there. I could have ordered online but I wanted to make sure the petite was going to fit ok and I found them to have the best selection out of all the Arlington stores I went to. I ended up going with the Koi "lindsey style" cargo scrub pants! They fell amazing and are actually flattering! The name of the color isn't teal but I can't rememer it off the top of my head. It matches the patch almost to a tee though. Plus, my friend said there end up being many shades of teal in clinicals. Lol hope this helps :)
