Summer semester

Published

Any one taking summer classes? If so, which ones? How do you plan to ace them? I would love to hear what classes those who are already into their program are taking.

I have to take intro to philosophy & one chemistry class for my BSN program in the fall. Definitely boring classes but I plan on studying/getting work done during the week so I can have weekends free.

Chemistry might seem boring, but look up a bit on acid/base balance in the body and you will find a great link to your future practice :)

Yes, I am taking summer courses. I am taking 13 credit hours total. I'm taking: mental health theory & clinical, statistics, and population health 3. I am a little nervous. I've never taken summer classes before, so we'll see how heavy the workload is with a shortened semester!

@Tait, true. And it's an allied health chemistry so I know it will be helpful.

@Skips, holy cow! You are motivated! I am sure you will pass with flying colors.

I get to start my nursing program in June! I will be taking Concepts in Nursing and Art and Science of Nursing I. Not sure how the workload will be, but I won't be working so should have time to study, study, study!

My program requires a summer semester. It's Adult Health 1. I had all my pre reqs done before I applied, so I could concentrate only on nursing courses. I hear its intense. About four months worth of material and clinicals in 8 weeks.

I'm taking a humanity this summer, but I took micro over the summer and got an A. It's doable and I think it was actually kind of nice because I got into the "mode" and it was over quick, instead of dragging it out across a full semester.

I'm starting my 12 month accelerated program next month :o and taking..

  • NURS 250: Clinical concepts in Nursing Practice (3)
  • NURS 249: Health Promotion Across the Lifespan: (2)
  • NURS 370: Health Assessment (3)
  • NURS 252: Foundation for Nursing Care (3)
  • NURS 360: Pathophysiology (4)
  • NURS 330: Pharmacotherapeutics for Nursing Care (3)

GOOD LUCK! I can't imagine that. But in a little over a year you'll be done!

I just finished fundamental of nursing and health assessment and my BSN program is trimester which means summers included so ill be taking Adult Concept 1 which is Med-Surg 1 and Pharm, that's 3 days of classes and 2 12hr clinical days a week, this summer! My summer is gone but all for my goal so I ain't mad.

I'm taking micro, honors micro, and a health class. I can't wait for the relaxation of only 3 classes after 2 semesters of nursing program.

I'm taking Pathophysiology, Cultural Diversity, and Ethics. They are all considered "pre-term" for my ABSN program. CD and Ethics are online, so I'm hoping they won't be too bad. Patho kind of scares me.
