Summer 2017 Chat

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi there! This thread is for anyone, anywhere that wants to chat about summer courses they are taking. This is our THIRD iteration of semester chat!

What's your schedule like this summer? Any TEAS or HESI preppers?

I'm taking three courses over 5 weeks. Texas Government (online), Chem II (lecture only, on campus) and Music Appreciation (online). School starts for me on June 6, ends July 7.

I'm also taking the TEAS on May 30th, so I'm prepping for that. And all my nursing school applications are due on August 1, so I'm working on that, too.

Hope everyone is well!

xo,

Jen

Just received my syllabus for this summer! For one class it seems pretty intense; an exam every other week. Hopefully with it being fast paced, this summer will go by quickly :)

Dude I have both my lab practicals AND lecture exams on the exact same day... 4 units so 4 big testing days. And our exam days always fall on Monday at 8:30 AM. Guess who works Fri/Sat/Sun until 11:00 PM and doesn't get home until after midnight? I'm sensing quite a few all-nighters this summer...

There is a small calculator on the upper right hand portion of the computer screen that you can use (which I ironically forgot about while working out multiple number-crunching problems). Reading through the ATI Test Prep booklet from Amazon, I was stressed at the prospect of math as it's been years since i've cracked a book in that subject. Fortunately the majority of math questions were just plug and play word problems and no formula memorization at all. An 86 is awesome though, you should do great.

Hey everyone! I'll be starting A&PII (lecture and lab) starting June 1st and then Intro to Interpersonal Communications starting June 20th. Good luck to everyone taking Summer courses this year! :)

My TEAS test is tomorrow! I'm getting really nervous. Sometimes when I'm working on the TEAS Mastery App I get a question and I'm like "um what?" and I worry I'm just not smart enough to do all this stuff.

This summer I'm taking Sociology and Interpersonal Communications both online, and plan on taking the Teas sometime in July. I decided to wait and apply for Ivy Tech's nursing program for 2018 spring admission so I could get the four required gen. Ed. Classes they have you taking during the nursing program out of the way.

Good luck, Jen! Let's us know how it goes! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks! I just did my final practice test and I got an 88. My science score is 92, Reading is 94, English is 88 and Math is 75.

Math makes me freeze up for some reason. I KNOW what I need to do and how to do it, things just go blank. I'm hoping I can skip questions and come back to them if necessary. English I'm not sure why I did so poorly.

That's great! I've been hunkering down on my math so much that I've been neglecting my English and science. Time to focus on those areas! The last practice test I took I had a 94 in reading, 75 in math, 75 in English, and 66 in science. Much better than my previous practice test and all well above my school's minimum requirements. I've got a couple more weeks to go. :)

I think we're going to do just fine!

you will do good... keep us posted!

You'll get in the 90's Jen. You'll be awsome tomorrow!

I'm taking physio, anatomy, and developmental psych this summer. Going to be rough, but I'm trying to get my application in this fall. Also, getting my BLS next weekend and volunteer in the ER on Friday nights. Not taking the TEAS until the fall, but have been studying. Good luck to everyone this summer!
