Summer 2017 Chat

Published

Hi there! This thread is for anyone, anywhere that wants to chat about summer courses they are taking. This is our THIRD iteration of semester chat!

What's your schedule like this summer? Any TEAS or HESI preppers?

I'm taking three courses over 5 weeks. Texas Government (online), Chem II (lecture only, on campus) and Music Appreciation (online). School starts for me on June 6, ends July 7.

I'm also taking the TEAS on May 30th, so I'm prepping for that. And all my nursing school applications are due on August 1, so I'm working on that, too.

Hope everyone is well!

xo,

Jen

Yay I've been waiting for this thread! haha :)

I started my online Intro to Nursing & Healthcare Systems course on Monday. It's an 8 week course but I also start A&P II on May 30th so tbh I'm trying to finish my online class before I start A&P. It's not ideal but needs to happen. Also because I need to start prepping for my TEAS exam next month as well. I'll be taking it in August, after I finish A&P II. I also have my first accelerated BSN application due on September 1. And I'll still be working at the hospital ~25 hours/week.

Sounds like we're both going to be busy bees this summer!

I'm taking Biomedical Ethics online and CLEPing US History 1. I actually have the NCLEX-PN scheduled first, so that's my main priority for now. And late June I can focus more on the other 2. I just need to make sure that everything is in by August 15th. The first half of the summer is going to be quite interesting :p

First summer off in a few years from course, until the fall when I start the Nursing program. I am going to enjoy it

Hi

I'm taking A&P 1 (lecture and lab) and intro to humanities online. Both are 10 weeks courses.

So far just study for the TEAS. Like to learn Spanish this summer. That's about it

I'm so envious that you're starting so soon! I feel like 2018 is taking forever to get here.

I will be taking organic Chem lecture and lab, a wellness class (online), and theatre in society (online). I'm dreading all three of these which is why I've decided to take them in the summer, so they go by quicker.

I'm also studying for my TEAS test, which I take on June 9th. I'm also starting a new job on June 5th, so I hope to be prepared for the TEAS before my new job and the semester start. I've applied to the nursing program and all that's left is my TEAS scores, so when they're sent in I'll be relieved. I'll find out if I got in around September!

This will also be my first semester that I'll be working, while also taking care of my 2 year old, so it will be a challenge! I'm going to have to make it work though, so wish me luck!

I wish you all the luck! I have an almost two year old and he's amazing but very demanding of all my time and energy. I had to turn down a position as a chemistry tutor at my school because all my time goes to my son. I won't get this precious time back so I'm trying to really enjoy while it lasts.

I'm in the same position

My daughter turned 2 today and she doesn't go to daycare so I have to keep her busy all the time. I'm also pregnant and want to sleep all day lol

I wish I could take more more courses

We should totally start a mom thread LOL. Since I attachment parent it's super hard to take more than one science w/lab. So I won't do my applications until he's almost three. I'll feel better about him being cared for by a relative or daycare by then. I hope....

This was a big factor in my decision to bow out of the EMT program. I get a whole six months with my kiddos in the fall before the craziness of nursing school starts. I can't wait!
