Summer 2017 Chat

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi there! This thread is for anyone, anywhere that wants to chat about summer courses they are taking. This is our THIRD iteration of semester chat!

What's your schedule like this summer? Any TEAS or HESI preppers?

I'm taking three courses over 5 weeks. Texas Government (online), Chem II (lecture only, on campus) and Music Appreciation (online). School starts for me on June 6, ends July 7.

I'm also taking the TEAS on May 30th, so I'm prepping for that. And all my nursing school applications are due on August 1, so I'm working on that, too.

Hope everyone is well!

xo,

Jen

My TEAS test is tomorrow! I'm getting really nervous. Sometimes when I'm working on the TEAS Mastery App I get a question and I'm like "um what?" and I worry I'm just not smart enough to do all this stuff.

Good luck!! I'm sure you'll do fine though -- keep us posted! :)

All done. I got an 82.7 overall. Not as good as I'd hoped, but not too bad, either. The average score for students accepted this past Spring was 80.7, so I'm hoping I'm competitive enough. Thanks for all the support :)

Would you say it was more challenging than the practice tests?

In general is was easier. Science stumped me a few times, just wasn't expecting the types of questions they asked.

Congrats, that's a very respectable score.

That's great, Jen!! Congratulations! We all knew you could do it.

Thanks, guys! I'm fighting disappointment, which is silly, I know.

Now it's time to enjoy my last week of freedom!

Not as silly as you may think -- there'll sometimes be that thought of you thinking you could've done better, but regardless, you should still celebrate the small victories! After all, you could've done way worse as well. Congrats though! :)

Taking the teas this Friday! I'm accepted as an alternate in my local community college. Hoping to pass and get in the program!

I'm taking the Basic CNA class that's accelerated (3 weeks only!), this is the last week of class and next Tuesday we start our clinical rotations. After that there's a week off then I'm planning on taking the Advanced CNA class that's also accelerated. I'm pretty excited. For once I feel like I am engaged in a class that I enjoy and it is starting to make me feel good about school again!

After the advanced class, I'm hoping to get a job in a hospital but possibly even go into a LTC facility since I like older folks. Hospital setting I feel would make me more prepared for the real world cause how fast paced it is.

I had taken a semester off and was wanting to start the Nursing program this fall but of course it already filled up so I'm hoping to get the job for the fall and see how I balance class and work. I'll be applying for the Spring '18 start for the program so that's the goal and I'm not gonna stop til I get done!

Sorry this is so long, my first post here 😋 Almost feels like a rant haha

I've been trying to find a CNA class around here, but I'm not having any luck. I feel like I might go insane just sitting around here for five months, waiting to see if I'm accepted into nursing school or not.

Oops, posted twice.
