Does anyone else have problems with their food "mysteriously" disappearing from the refrigerator only to find that when it is time to eat your food is gone? Here is to everyone who thinks it is ok to eat other people's food. STOP IT! You are pitiful and I hope one day I catch you...ohhhhhhh do I hope I catch you. And if you are one of those people who are stealing....explain to me what you are thinking? please.
last week, i gave up my weekend to sit with my grandmother while my dad went out of town to a wedding....the upshot was on Monday when he came home, he'd brought some really good wedding cake home with him. took it to work, CLEARLY labeled with my name on it, and then about 3 hrs into the shift I went into the breakroom to get a drink, and my cake was sitting out with about 2 of the 3 layers missing.....I asked everyone if they'd ate my cake, prefaced with "I'm not mad....if you seriously need some cake I'll buy you some from the grocery store next time I work...." but nobody confessed....I should have said....yep, that was a good 1/2 cake....I guess I sneezed on the other half, but I thought it just added to the flavor....lol"
Wow I cannot believe people steal ya'lls food... That is appalling. I've never had my food stolen and I am thankful for that. Now, it is a rule at my workplace that if it is left on the table then it is fair game. Just don't leave your bag of chips on the table... they will get eaten. But if it is labeled and put up in the fridge or over on the counter no one will touch it...
Before I left agency nursing, every night I worked I'd order pizza or breadsticks from Pizza Hut, with a 2-liter Dew to go with. Everyone knew the food was fair game, and they paid me for it. But they knew that they'd better ask quick before they poured Dew out of my bottle, I drank it straight from the bottle! The ones who got a cup were the ones that got to me before it was ever opened. After that, all bets were off.
I love the mouse trap in the purse! I just would not have left a note. That would have been priceless! I can just see it....all nice and calm on the floor, and SNAP! To be immediately followed by a bloodcurdling shriek. Good times, good times.
Prior to doing nursing I was in fire rescue. This was always a problem as we worked 24 on and 48 off, so bringing food was a fact of life. A friend/coworker had a dirtbag shift that would always eat his cereal that he had clearly marked (and most of us lived by the code of no name, fair game). He warned the offending shift several times and finally had enough. He bought a new box of cereal and dumped the contents on the floor underneath the urinal at the beginning of his shift, it sat there all day absorbing random things that 'collect' under a urinal, before the next shift came in he scooped it all up and placed the box with his name on it in his locker. Next shift the box was again nearly empty, the look of utter disgust on the thieves' faces was a thing of wonder when he informed them of his actions. It was a very steep learning curve for these people and of course they were not amused. He never has had food taken again.
i was tired of having my bag lunches walk off almost every night. i suspected who the culprit was but had no proof. i made a batch of fudge with a box of exlax added in and just set it in the kitchen on the counter after warning everyone but my suspect. another time, i got tired of people eating my instant oatmeal and poured the contents of 1 package into a bowl, stirred in a few ivory flakes and stirred to combine. i left a spoon on the counter by the bowl along with the oatmeal packet, so one might assume i had been called away suddenly.
no one ever ate my lunch again.

Years ago I worked in a nursing home and my lunch would disappear every night. Of course "no one" took it or saw who took it. Our break room had a machine that dispensed cups of pop, but there was no other way to obtain a drink. It broke frequently. I brought in a bowl of chili one night that I loaded with pureed jalapenos and tons of red pepper flakes. And then when no one was in the break room, I purposely took a part off the pop machine. I caught the thief that night. She never did it again.
About 5 years ago, someone kept stealing the little chug of milk I brought in for my cereal. I bought one and repaced about 1/2 of the milk with vinegar. I heard the guy who was stealing it just opened it and proceed to guzzle and then realized that it wasn't all milk and spit all over the place.
The big problem we have? Families or patients will have a fruit basket, cake, or cookies delivered and first shift eats it all and never saves any for the other shifts. I once found a thank you note addressed to me on top of the garbage. It was clear something had been delivered. First shift claimed that they didn't know anything about it. The family called later to see if I got the box of chocolates they sent to me. Another time a family delivered 2 cakes, one for the 7 am to 7 pm shift and one for the 7 pm to 7 am shift. The nurse manager, knowing this was a problem put one out in the morning at the other at 6 pm before she left. They were both gone before 7 pm. That is just plain rude. I'm still trying to figure out how to fix their wagon.

Nothing worse than having a busy day, not taking time to go down and get something because "you have somehting in the fridge", just to find three hours after lunch that someone has helped themselves to your lunch!
