Stop eating my food!

Published

Does anyone else have problems with their food "mysteriously" disappearing from the refrigerator only to find that when it is time to eat your food is gone? Here is to everyone who thinks it is ok to eat other people's food. STOP IT! You are pitiful and I hope one day I catch you...ohhhhhhh do I hope I catch you. And if you are one of those people who are stealing....explain to me what you are thinking? please.

Thank you! I brought 8 oz of farmers cheese to get me thru the weekend. Ate a bit and then back on Saturday- all was gone. What! We have employee frige. Have brought cream cheese in tupperware. Gone. So frustrated. We have no cafeteria at Tufts- so we HAVE to bring breakfast, lunch. Growl.

Back in a different career, I had an inventory control manager who kept having his expensive coffee creamer disappear form the refrigerator. The way he fixed this also let him know who the thieves were. He made his morning coffee as usual placed the creamer in the refrigerator when it disappeared he posted a note on the refrigerator that after making his coffee he went to the bathroom with the creamer and refilled it with his urine. The culprits all left work within the next 30 min. The next day they were all questioned and when they admitted they had taken the creamer they were told the sign was not true and they were very relieved and said they had learned their lesson and promised not to do it again. Then justice was served all were fired for theft and could not get unemployment.

If everyone who stole from coworkers or their employers or clients in one form or another met with the same fate, then perhaps there would be less theft in the workplace. Unfortunately, when absolutely nothing is done, people learn they can get away with anything because management does not care.

On this one unit I worked on a long time ago me and another nurse worked steady nights. Whenever there was some type of celebration, the day shift brought tons of food and we were asked to bring stuff in with the promise that they would save some stuff for us. We would come in that night to find nothing but crumbs and dirty containers and serving spoons in the breakroom. I refused to clean it up and would leave it. Another time we were told that "there's stuff in the fridge for you two" and all that was in there was a few pieces of stale cheese. We refused to ever bring anything in again and continued to leave their mess for them to clean up in the morning.

right after graduation, i worked orthopedics with a nurse who was 6' 10" and packed himself a lunch every evening that would have feed me for a week and then often ate our lunches too. he washed it down with redpop. can after can after can after can after ... oh well, you get the general idea. he would then leave his empties lying about everywhere. we were all sick to death of cleaning up after him until one of the older nurses (who had been a colonel in

the army nurse corps in korea) had an idea. she very helpfully brought him his next refill. she'd dumped the redpop and and substituted ex-prep. shall we draw a veil over the remainder of that shift and just say that he didn't sit at the nurses station much?!

That was not very nice of them at all.If you pitched in, then they should

have left your own shares for you guys.

Meanwhile, some of these stories have been just mean and plain disgusting.

This is so common in many work places, I can't believe how some people can just go in and steal people's lunches, when I worked in my previous job it was a large place, desk job to a about 150 people. Their were 2 huge fridges and people that had their lunches with their names on it and in cooler type boxes were still getting their food stolen. The company said anything not labeled was fair game (ummm ok) but regardless, people were labeling it, one day this pregnant lady was getting dizzy and went to get her food and of course it was gone just an empty lunch pale so someone else gave their lunch to her.

Well people started getting creative putting laxatives and cat litter and stuff in lunches, the theft dwindled quiet a bit after that.

I would have wanted to try to find some way that whoever stole it and ate it everyone would know, like purple lips or something.
