ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
has everyone from the accelerated program been notified? the ones waiting, did you all apply to the two year program? Im just wondering what's the latest SB SON notifies the students that applied for the accelerated program. If anyone can answer this, I'd really appreciate it
As I understand it, people can get called off the waitlist right up to orientation or even first day of classes. But I am not sure if your question was actually about when the SON notifies all candidates of a decision at all. In which case, I am not sure about that answer
Heyy Paco, yes, you are very helpful as always! So what about applicants who werent waitlisted, those that got denied or accepted right away? would u say February being the latest? Thank you again :))
I am going to SPECULATE to say that anyone that was outright denied or accepted to SBU for the accelerated must have their decision by now, given that classes are starting in about 2 months or so, and more that likely it did happen during that Feb round. Not familiar with the timeline for the 2-year program however, your guess is as good as mine with that. I still have not been able to figure out their system, prob never will.
I also didn't get accepted into Stony Brooks RN to BSN online program. 3.5 GPA, 3 great refs, excellent essay and 10 years employed as an RN. So, I think I'm going to try again next year.
I am so disappointed and disgusted with stony brook at this point, to be quite honest. i'm sorry you didn't get in but there are many other schools in the area with rn-bsn programs, such as st. joseph's college in patchogue, farmingdale, cw post, molloy, adelphi. I am really let down with the system" they have used to choose who is good enough for them. that was my vent. sorry haha.

I didn't get in either I have a 3.8, great references and essay too, and a little less work experience. But it still stinks! I really just wanted to do an online RN-BSN because it's so flexible, so I'm ending up doing SUNY Plattsburgh's because that's still online as well - plus they accepted me, which is obviously a bonus! :)
Good luck if you apply to SBU next year - or try Platts, they are rolling admission I believe!
Hi Paco!
Nothin' new around these parts. I'm trying to work my hospital contacts (where I volunteer) to get a job there. It's funny when I went in for my shift at the hospital last week, I was talking to one of the nurses and she asked me what I wanted to go to school for. I told her I'm planning to go for my second degree in nursing. She suggested I go to school to be a physician's assistant because "nursing isn't all it's cracked up to be". I was thinking, that's not very encouraging but none the less I did a little research on it and maybe that's something else I can consider for next year along with reapplying to nursing school.
I hope your packing is going well, trying to put your whole life in boxes can be exhausting!
