ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
ruby, I havent heard anything yet either.. I was told in an email that I should hear late April, with a second orientation bring held on may 17th bc of the delay in notifying everyone.. Fingers crossed for us!!
Well thanks for answering.. I was starting to think I was the only one left lol. Fingers and toes are crossed for us haha.. Even my cat will cross paws if that helps. Positive thinking
is anyone going to be living on campus?
I am currently looking for a place off campus....but it's sooo expensive! I rather not be bothered by dorm parties and loud music when I'm studying. Will you be living on campus? If so, I was told to stay away from Chapin Apartments, not sure why but I was advised to look elsewhere although the rent is affordable.
If your not too familiar with the area, you may have a little better luck with pricing if you get away from anything with a Stony Brook address (this is the hamlet that the SBU is in). Housing in general is a little more reasonable in nearby Centereach, Selden, Port Jefferson Station and perhaps South Setauket. They are all 5 to 10 minutes from the campus. If you look at Mapquest and follow Nicolls Road South, any of the hamlets that way are also good choices. Even if you picked a place as far south as the Long Island Expressway (495) which is close to Nicolls Road you could still be at school in 15 minutes tops. Good luck with the search! Also, as bad as traffic is on Long Island, the big problem is east and west bound travel, going north and south on a road like Nicolls is usually no problem. Buckeroo out! :)
is there anyone else who still hasn't heard anything???![]()
i was at the hospital last week because a family member was having surgery, and i just was reminded at how great of a hospital SB is.. i really hope i hear some good news soon.
ruby, can you post when you hear something? i'm dying to know when other people start hearing.. thanks!! :)
well on friday my solar finally changed so i've been officially waitlisted.
where do we see that kind of info? what did you click through to see that? maybe i have been too and just can't find it? or is it obvious? i'll still keep everything crossed for you that you get pulled off waitlist and into acccepted!!
i hope so toooooooo!!!!! ive been so depressed about it lol! i went crazy when i found out and applied to 2 random schools that i don't even really want to go to, just because stony brook was my #1 choice and i only applied to an associates program, which i did get into, but i really want my BSN. i'm hoping for you too.
when you log into solar, the link that says "view applicant information", now right next to it has a link that says "admission decision response". when you click on that link, another will come up that says "view decision" and it should be there. you may not have the link yet.

thanks for that info - that at least makes me feel better about clicking around the website like a maniac.. it will be a little obvious for me to find! as far as the associates program goes, i definitely know how you feel.. i had originally applied to SBU wayyy back and an associatesprogram, but only got into the associates, and now going back for my bachelor's (RN-BSN program).. not that i think that's what the future holds for you.. i hope SBU pulls through!!! :)
