ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
Paco, great to see your comments. Everyone I hear from seems to echo your sentiments about the great staff at SBU, and the great experience. Sure doesn't fit the stereotype of a large public university... which of course is good news. Enjoy your brief time off!To those waiting patiently for that last minute call, you are in all our thoughts, good luck!
Buckeroo OUT!
Thanks Buckeroo! Despite Stony Brook being as large as it is, the nursing school itself is quite intimate. Starting this semester the ABSN will combine with the 2-year students (class of 2012) in certain classes ... so many of my classes will be larger than they were in the summer (which was only 64 of us). I think however that 120 or so will still be quite intimate. Looking forward to starting the new semester, which incidentally was delayed by a day thanks to IRENE ... and that explains why I am still up at this hour, LOL. But it all resumes Tuesday!
For those still waiting ... I would probably not lost hope until the first day of class is over (Tues). I know it's a stretch, but you never know if someone just got accepted over the weekend to their 1st choice school and dropped ... or perhaps just decided this was not for them. GOOD LUCK!
Can anyone tell me what the total approximate cost of the one-year accelerated program at Stony Brook came out to be? I will not be working if I get into the program and we will be relying on my husband's salary, so I'd like to know in advance how much I should be saving now to be ahead of the game in a year.
Thanks in advance.
Wow, 1001 posts on this thread :)
I think it's time to close this thread from further posting, it has already served its purpose for the ABSN and 2-year classes that started this year. But good to archive the info for others to reference. I will personally however continue to post as time permits on the ABSN thread for the current application year, here's that link:

Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread very much alive for the past year and a half! It was fun to share my experience from applicant to student and impart my words of wisdom (or lack thereof, lol). On to the next thread ... Good luck to everyone applying to SBU!!
