Stony Brook BSN - Summer/Fall 2011 Applicants

U.S.A. New York

Published

ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... :D ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ... :(

but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).

anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?

Congrats Jill!! WOW- better late than never I guess!! Kudos to you for accepting so late!! :-))

Attended the first day of orientation of the ABSN today, it was awesome! :D This is going to be a GREAT experience!

Glad to say that the wait to get in and the re-application was worth it ... GOOD LUCK to everyone!

Hello all!

Classes for the Stony Brook ABSN start next week, and I can tell from the orientation so far that this program is going to consume my time incredibly . Not complaining though, as I did sign up for this :p ... it has been all GREAT so far :). I DID make the right decision coming here!

As such, I think this is a good time to sign off from this thread for now ... especially given how inactive it has become in recent weeks. I will pop in from time to time to read posts tho, just unpredictable how that will work with the new schedule.

My next post here will be after graduation :grad: ... I look forward to making that a reality to inspire people that it CAN be done.

Signing off from Stony Brook! In the meantime ... GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :) Here I go ... :D ...

for anyone who got into the 2-yr basic bsn- when is your orientation?? i was waitlisted and have basically given up hope but i was just wondering IF i were to hear something when it would be. thanks

You may hear from them literally on the orientation day... 4 of my waitlisted classmates (I'm currently in the 2nd year) walked in while orientation was taking place... Best of luck!

they should really do orientation a little earlier, if they do call me (which i seriously doubt and i don't even know why i'm thinking about it) i would obviously accept and run in as soon as they call, but i would have to quit my job, and find something new to fit the new schedule, and blah blah, it would be sooooo much stress to figure out in like a week! luckily i only live about 10 mins from the hospital so i don't have to worry about housing, but financial aid is soo annoying.. but i know it would be worth it right!

i'm hoping for us both!!!!!!! i really am! i was SO dissapointed when i didn't get in. i feel like it would truly be a miracle for me to get called in.

ahhh same here... i feel like the chance that they will call me is like close to zerooo... and the whole quit the job thing... yea... and i dont think you have a week to figure out, more like 2 days... and i live in brooklyn so if they call me at like 8 something, i cant get there until like 11 or 12... but i really really hope that they call... i'll definitely gooo if they do call ='(

GOOD LUCK rubysasha and dr3amygirl! We go waaaaay back! :)

OK, I know I said I was not going to post here until graduation, so I lied :D ... but I am on break between semesters, so I got a little bored, haha :clown:

Can't say enough good things about the program, I can't believe I finished my first summer in the ABSN! Waiting for grades, but I feel I did very well. Some awesome classmates I have. The first day of orientation, you know how many people came up to me asking me if I was Paco? I felt like a celebrity, LOL! And the professors are incredibly knowledgeable and lovable. If you fall asleep in their classes, there is seriously something wrong with you, LOL!

Speaking of orientation, I believe there were like 3-4 people who did not show up to ours and 3-4 from the waitlist showed up the next day. I would not worry too much about the financial aid details and things like that, it all gets worked out I think within days. I must say, if you get in to SBU, you're going to have a great experience. Oh yes, it does have some administrative hurdles that are hallmarks of a SUNY institution, but they are minor in comparison to the education you get!

Gotta go, don't want to waste too much vacation time online, LOL!
