Stony Brook BSN - Summer/Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... :D ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ... :(

but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).

anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?

You are definitely the most deserving/qualified candidate I have heard of that did not get accepted. My apologies. Again, we don't know their reasoning. I am not a negative person, but let's be honest here, what would you(could you) have done differently? I would say nothing! I also can empathize with you about working so hard to mainitain an outstanding GPA, volunteering, having fabulous references, a kicking essay....and others that with less/missing piece(s) get in? I am very disheartened about this process. I also don't understand how I was waitlisted for the one year and rejected for the two?

I hope(know) things will work out for us all in the end. This is just a bump in the road, and eventually we all will get to that place we all deserve!

That really doesn't make sense that you would be waitlisted for a harder program, and rejected from the other. Thank you for your kind words, as well. Good Luck on getting off the wait list for the one year and into the program! :)

I had a bad semester (2.8), 8 years ago at an art school. That may have been negative, although I didn't expect it to count so much since I didn't even use a single credit on my application from that school. I can't take back the past either. I feel the only thing I could have done differently was to have applied to Stony Brook as a general student for this past year so I would have been applying to the nursing school already as a student of Stony Brook. I currently attend Suffolk Community. I had thought about applying to Stony Brook before, but I felt I should just stay at Suffolk and earn my associates. Suffolk was good for me to work around my schedule as I have a 3 year old and frequently have to babysit my epileptic niece. Other than that, I couldn't have done anymore than I did. I just think it's impossible to try and figure out who and what they want for their program. I guess there is no use trying anyway.

Hi everyone : ) This is my first time posting (but have been religiously stalking it to try to find out when admission decisions come out!), I applied to the 2 year as well and my solar hasnt changed at all :( I was wondering if anyone that didn't originally hear on the first day of acceptances has heard anything????

My solar hasn't changed either. I spoke to someone at the school of nursing and I was told I was wait listed. But I haven't gotten anything official yet. Apparently since we weren't accepted or denied we don't deserve to know we have been waitlisted. Lol

Same here, no change

I went to the pre-nursing society meeting tonight, and both *******and *****said that 72 students were accepted and all decisions havent gone out yet but they are all made. Basically they said that there was no order to it and it doesnt mean we were accepted denied or wait listed if we havent heard yet, but i find that hard to believe! oh well i guess we just have to keep waiting

Ugh the last few weeks have just been so completely frustrating. Thanks for the info though, since I'm not a current sb student I miss out on these things. I don't understand why they're waiting if the decisions are all made.

I just checked my SOLAR Account as I was running out ot the office around 2PM and lo and behold, NEW TABS. Took a little clickin' around, but I found my acceptance tab. Yeah, :) Hope others get some delayed good news too!!!

Yay! That's awesome! :yeah:

Now you can relax for a little while before you get real busy with the nursing program. Congratulations!

I'm determined to get in next year. There's no stopping me. :)
