I am starting nursing school in the fall & was trying to decide what stethscope to get.. Littmann Master Cardiology or Littmann Master Classic II? Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Sprague stethoscopes are inexpensive and work well enough for nursing school and working as a nurse too, especially if you're prone to losing things like I am. They come in lots of colors too, as well as in a couple of lengths. I've had 4 of them.
Yep, Sprague is great. I've been an RN for 25 years and love it (the stethoscope that is). I had a Littman in nursing school and it 'disappeared'.
I just started nursing school this Spring and our program required that our stethoscopes had the dedicated bell/diaphragm. I would check if your program has requirements before you run out and spend a lot of money on a stethoscope!
I ended up getting the Littmann Classic II. It came in lots of different colors and I also got my name engraved on the bell.
Good luck in school! It's not easy, but I am loving it! :)
We have just what you need a whole forum on stethescopes. https://allnurses.com/nursing-stethoscope/
I've used an Untrascope for years and LOVE it. I was reading the material for things we'll need for our BSN clinicals and one item was a stethoscope with a bell/diaphragm. I was going to pick up a cheapie for school and then I found the MDF. Love at first listen! I ended up getting the MDF-ER premier. Oh the things I can hear now...I'll be using the MDF for school AND work.

Damn, I thought I was gonna get to be cool and suggest an MDF scope first
These are just as high quality as Littman, if not better (excluding the higher end Littman models). Made in America, free lifetime parts if things go bad, just as solid, and good feeling as any Littman I've used.
I have black on black, very nice. Heart and lung sounds are clear as anything. I think they're like 55 bucks. Good stuff. You don't need anything more for nursing school.
