  1. Thank you so much, this was a huge help! :)
  2. my patient has had below the knee amputation on her left leg due to diabetes and is obese. she says she is unable to bear weight on her right leg. i tried to see if she could & she said she wasn't able to but the cna's said she would do it for her daughters every now and then. a lift is used in order to transfer the patient to her shower chair or the chair she likes to sit in during the day. she also has limited rom. nursing diagnosis: impaired physical mobility related to left below the knee amputation secondary to diabetes mellitus as evidenced by limited range of motion, the inability to bear weight on her right leg, and the inability to move in her environment, including bed mobility and transfers. does this nursing diagnosis sound right? i just need to know if i'm doing it right. thanks in advance! :)

  4. I start NS in 2 weeks & I plan on trying to work 28 hours. If I am too stressed or struggle in the program, then I will drop my hours to 21 hours a week, but because of my bills I will have to work at least 21 hours a week. I think it will be doable with a lot of hard work & no social life lol. Good luck to everyone starting this Fall!! :)
  5. I am starting nursing school in the Fall also & I bought the four recommended books that they talked to us about in orientation to make sure I am prepared. One is the same book GrnTea recommended. I got the 6th edition from Amazon for $27.92. The ISBN for it is: 978-0-13-514278-3. I also bought the tHandbook of Nursing Diagnosis by Lynda Juall Carpenito-Moyet, Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary (21st edition), and Mosby's 2011 Nursing Drug Reference by Linda Skidmore-Roth. I'm super excited to start but also very nervous! haha
  6. I am starting nursing school in the fall & was trying to decide what stethscope to get.. Littmann Master Cardiology or Littmann Master Classic II? Any suggestions? Thanks!
  7. Yay!!!! Got my acceptance letter this week!!!! I couldn't be happier! Congrats to everyone & good luck to those who are still waiting for the their letter. :D:D:D:D :clpty:
  8. Congrats!! I also just found that I passed and made a "B". I too was very shocked but very happy haha!! Merry Christmas!!
  9. Thanks for the info. I loved nursing math and made an "A" in that course, but I feel like I have forgotten how to doit, but everyone that was in my class that was already in nursing said that when we actually get into the nursing classes that they teach us a complete different way then my teacher taught us how to do medical dosage calculations. So I will prob look back through my back on this again. I am currently in Medical Terminology and it is a really easy class for me and I wish I would have taken it before I took A&P. Thank you all for the information, this has really helped me to stop worrying ( alittle haha). Hope you all have a great Christmas
  10. Thank you for the info, I will def. do that. Merry Christmas!! :)
  11. hello everyone!! i am applying for the nursing program for fall 2011 at my local community college & was wondering what are some good things that i should start studying before i get into the program (and let's hope i do lol)? i am going to purchase the teas test study guide, but i want to be prepared bc i am very worried how difficult the actual nursing classes are going to be. i have done good in my pre-reqs but i feel like i have forgotten things from a&p that i took this summer. this program is so competitive & i just want to make sure i succeed when i get into nursing school. any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
  12. Hello Everyone! I am currently attending a community college for pre-radiology or pre-nursing and will be finished with my pre-reqs for either degree this spring. I am looking for some advice from Registered Nurses or anyone that has information on Sonography, i know this is a nursing forum, so if not, that's fine. But I really need some nursing advice. I was going to get my Associates in Radiology and then transfer to a University to get my Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. But recently, I was looking to see what jobs there are and the ONLY job I found for Ultrasound, was a PRN (as needed, no schedule) positon at both our local hospitals. When I graduate, I would need something more full time to pay off student loans and don't want to be without a job after graduation. So that got me thinking about Registered Nursing, which I think I would really like. But I always thought nursing wouldn't be something I could handle so that's why I always chose Radiology. I think the part I'm scared I couldn't handle is cleaning up feces and stuff like that. I would like to have some advice from a Nursing Student and/or Registered Nurses. What are the courses like and what is it like for Registered Nurses once they are working at a hospital. What are clinicals like? And how much harder are the nursing courses compared the A&P I and A&P II. In A&P I and A&P II, I made a "B" in both courses and in Nursing Math, I made an "A". However, currently I am in Chemistry and have been struggling with it. Currently my average is a 78.91% which is a "C" and only 1.09% from a "B" but we are only half way through the semester. Do you think I could handle the nursing courses and clinicals? Sorry for the long post.. I'm just sooooo confused as to what field to choose! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :) -Rose
