Humans aren’t the only ones hankering for the days they could dine out at their cities’ restaurants: Some rats that miss feasting on the scraps are becoming increasingly brazen to find new food sources, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned Thursday.

Horrible! I can't imagine nor relate to this. I've only seen rats swarming looking for food in the movies and on TV.

Sooo, we are supposed to be more concerned about the rats than the humans!! Got it!

I think my grade school teachers who kept pet rats in our classrooms might have disagreed!
Rats do make good pets. I had two hooded rats has a child. Their names were Peter and Paul.
After they escaped from the cage and got into the kitchen drawers, my mother made me get rid of them.
After one stint of being the kid who got to take the rats home for the holiday break, my parents allowed us three kids to have our very own rats. I remember one was named Sir Gunther Toody after the TV character on, I believe, "Car 54 Where Are You?" For the life of me can't remember the other names. Will have to call a brother and reminisce.
I also remember having a rat in the classroom as a kid. We have dogs for pets also but sometimes they need to be put down, IMO, same as the wild rats running a muck.

Living in NYC, I have yet to see a hyperaggressive rat since COVID started. However, in full disclosure, I haven't been in a metro station since March. Still, I think this may be a little bit of fear mongering.

That 2020 convention is scheduled for WI and there hasn't been a DNC convention in NYC since the early 1990s. Facts and evidence don't seem to matter in Trumplandia. Some basis in truth would make the joke funnier though. The really good social comedy is heavily focused on the absurdity of reality.

I've also heard that there are now Asian murder hornets now arriving into the Northeast U.S.! And here in Texas, hurricane season fast approaches. Proof positive that we live in the real world, not some public health official's epidemiological wish-list chart, and in the real world we have a whole bunch of issues than just the Corona to deal with.

The murder hornets have been here for years! they are primarily found in agricultural areas and they mainly attack domestic honey bees. Though they do have an impressive set of mandibles and can inflict a nasty bite.
