Spring 09 Hopefuls

I wanted to start a support thread for all of us that will be applying for the Spring 09 start. My hope is that we keep this thread alive through the process and keep each other encouraged! Nursing School is hard enough to get into!

Where are you applying?

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?

When is your schools deadline?

When does the acceptance letters go out?

What is your plan A, B, C...?

Nice, where did you get accepted? I'm in a similar situation. I was hoping for spring and was accepted for spring, but am choosing to defer until Fall so i can take the classes i need to take at a less inexpensive school first. 8 months seems like eternity right about now.

I got accepted at Saint vincent's in Fresh Meadows, NY. They were actually my first choice mainly because of the small close knit family feel of the school and the faculty that interviewed me was very nice and never intimidating. I felt that everyone in the school is there to help us succeed and that made me even more excited to start Nursing School.

I finally got my acceptance letter after rejections one after another. I applied for Spring but got accepeted for Fall. Not what I was hoping for but way better than nothing. I just have to wait 9 mos to be in NS. I don't know how I will be able to handle the anticipation cause I am so excited! yey!

My current school (Modesto Junior College) selects from a lottery, and while I have a 4.0 in my core classes & a 3.7 overall... it isn't enough. They have turned me down for a 3rd time. This time I'm #22 on the waitlist which is so close, yet so far. It's so frustrating & depressing.

Luckily - during this long process, I continued taking general transfer courses and was able to apply to CSU Stanislaus for the spring 09 sememster. I'm #1 on their waitlist, so I'm hopeful that I will get in to their program.

It depends on who is in what type of program.

For myself:

Spring 09-1st semester

Fall 09 - 2nd semester

Spring 10 - 3rd semester

Fall 10 - 4th semester

So I should be graduating in December 2010.

Some like Jess6 will be done sooner b/c she got into an accelerated program....What about you Texas? Is your program accelerated?

We won't know at TVCC until two weeks into May. Application has been in since January. The anticipation is killing me. Moreso now that I have been laid off from work. Working towards this goal for over a year has been incredible... OOOOOH to get that acceptance letter.

Katie, i wanted to ask you what you think i should do. im a readmission for the program bc i took it in fall of 08. lots of circumstances arised i should have withdrew, long story short i just let myself fail by not showing up the month of clinicals(i got married to an army man and was supposed to be shipping off...he got put here). mrs rees and cozby say that that wont affect my score at all...however, when i reapply i get one shot thats it. i was going to reapply for the jan track 2010, but now that i know they only take 40 and if i dont get in i can never reapply im a little freaked out. should i just wait till fall when i know ill get in? my score is only in the 1200's. could you ask your classmates what the avg acore for their worksheet was for the accelerated track? im so confused now.

GOT THE LETTER LAST THURSDAY!!! WOOHOOO!!!! Totally Sweet! A year of busting butt and I'm finally in. Feel great. To those still waiting - KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! Don't give up. The wait will be worth it.
