I totally Agree with you. I just Finished my last semester before my preceptorship. Having good commitment and good grades once in NS it is extremely Hard, but you can do it!!!!! I work, I do NS Full-time, I have a 13 yr old, a Husband and a Dog LOL-- I'm going insane! My GPA came down from 3.8 to 3.6 in NS. so Yeah. Grades are just grades. I had Nursing professors tell me that it is not all about the A. I agree. Congratulations and Best of Luck to you!!! =D

Congratulations for getting into NCCC!!! However, I wonder why they are taking students with your GPA. Don't get offended, it is very GOOD! However, they are so competitive. I work for NSLIJ as a Nursing Associate, and they stopped hiring AS Graduates. It is basically impossible to get a job with out your BSN. I got accepted into Suffolk, but decided to go to Molloy College. I will be done in DEC this Year. Best decision ever. and once again, welcome to the world of Nursing!!!!!!

I agree...you don't have to be nice or be anybody's friend, but I think students derserve respect. We all went to the Dean last week, so they are aware of the situation. Today we found out she is not teaching next semester because she got discontinued from our program. Im sure she had problems with other students though. I rather have a professor who tells me Im in the way of failing then telling me to stay home and not come back to Nursing School. That is crossing the line.

I'm glad I read this post. I am in my 1st year Clinicals. My clincal instructor is horiible. She forgets to get patients the night before, makes us feel like we are nothing all the time. She even told me that Nursing is not for me and the I should reconsider Nursing and Stay home with my child. But, I explained to her that why should I? Even patients feel bad for us becuase of the way she treats us. I email her 2 days ago that I am going to be a Nurse and see you Monday! however, I am afraid that she is going to fail, but we will see. I am not going to let her control my decisions. Yes I was crying Monday because that was plain mean, but I need to move on and do what I have to do. THIS IS FUNNY, BUT SHE ALSO TOLD THAT SHE IS ONLY OUR INSTRUCTOR, BUT NOT OUR GOD. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? WHY EVEN SAY THAT? EVERYWEEK I GET DISCOURAGED FROM BESIDES THE FACT THAT SHE LOVES TO INTIMIDATE US IN FRONT OF ANYONE.

Thank you Guys!!!!! like one of you said, she expected for us to know everything and it kind of overwhelmed us. Some of us were sweating ( Bless our hearts LOL), u imagine someone asking u to do something U have never done???? - she also told us not to bring care plan to clinicals, now I have to ask , is that true? how do you record the patient's history to do an assesment? !!! 2 girls wanna go and complaint about her because she is new and they want me to back up, and I honestly don't want to. I don't wanna her to get more meaner than she allready is LOL Anyways,, last nite I watched the CD ( good advice!!!!) and practiced all afternoon today in the nursing lab; finally I went and took my skills test on Bed Bath and passed :) I feel so much better than yesterday, but Im still a little concern because this class is based in the foundations of Nursing and I need to learn as much as I can for future clinicals. Now my next skill test is Vital Signs and then Ill be ready for Hospital Clinicals :) I will def ask questions here whenever I feel a little lost. Thank youuuuu:redpinkhe

My first day of Clinicals was today, but it wasn't in a Hospital; it was actually in our school Nursing Lab. We got to meet our desinated Nursing Instructor for Clinicals, Classmates and etc. We went over the Bed bath procedure today and Hand Washing as well. Even though it wasn't a real Hospital Clinical yet ( Oct 5th will be our 1st clinical in the Hospital) , I was so excited and thankful to God because I had finally made it to Nursing School which was my ultimate goal. I can't even express the level of dissapointed I got home today. My instructor was completely careless as she did not care about us doing the procedure the right way, on top of that, she was yelling at us and giving us funny look. Couple of girls were very sensitive and started crying. I tried to console them because what can we do??? It is what it is. We can't change her for another instructor. Hey, we are "rookies", maybe in the long run she won't be so bad. Im trying 110 % to be possitive and get tru this clinical so I can make the best of it. I will work hard even if I have to practice extra hours so that I can pass my skill tests everyweek. I did get home with a little headache, but I guess those are the wonders of Nursing School :) I just wanted to share my story and vent alittle: Any comments or advice are welcome.

Wow, Yes, I agree with you 100%- I'm new to the program and I hope it is not too much for me ( Im a working parent.) I'm just going for my 5- Nursing courses with a possitive attitude and hope for the best. I'm a little nervous, but happy..I really want to do this. Best of luck to my self!

WELL, TO BE HONEST WITH YOU..I THINK BALDWIN IS MUCH BETTER. BUT WHY DON'T YOU CALL THE SCHOOL AND FIND OUT ABOUT HOUSING INFO? I KNOW WE DON'T HAVE DORMS, BUT I DO KNOW THAT THEY DO OFFER SOME TYPE OF HOUSING OUT SIDE CAMPUS??? FIND OUT! ALSO, THE BUS STOPS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL, BUT IM NOT REALLY FAMILIAR WITH IT SINCE I DRIVE. I DO KNOW THAT ALOT OF STUDENTS TAKE THEM. IN MY OPINION, I THINK MOLLOY IS A SCHOOL FOR COMMUTERS WITHIN NY. IS PRETTY SMALL, BUT I FIND IT FUN AND INTERESTING. THEY OFFER ALOT OF TRIPS TO EUROPE FOR STUDENTS WHO WISH TO TAKE COURSES OUT OF THE COUNTRY WHICH I FIND SO COOL BUT CAN'T DO LOL!!!!!! I'M SURE ALL SCHOOLS OFFER THAT. BUT ANYWAYS, MAY I ASK WHY NOT TRY OTHER SCHOOLS IN THE NYC. MAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE A WEEKEND TRIP HERE AND CHECK THE SCHOOL OUT- I HAVE A SUMMER CLASS STARTING AUG 3RD- AUG 13TH SO IF YOU DECIDE TO DO SO, LET ME KNOW. ILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SHOW YOU AROUND.

:bugeyes:WELL, MOST OF THE STUDENTS ARE VERY YOUNG...(IN THE UNDEGRADUATE PROGRAM.) THE CAMPUS IT SELF IS PRETTY SMALL, BUT FRIENDLY. AS FAR AS THE PROFESSORS, SOME ARE NICE AND SOME ARE NOT...I GUESS YOU SEE THAT TYPE OF COMBINATION IN EVERY SCHOOL. I DO HAVE TO SAY THAT MY GPA WENT UP TO 3.9 THIS LAST SEMESTER BECAUSE YOU REALLY HAVE TO WORK HARD. SOME OF THE TEACHERS ARE NUNS AND PRIESTS AND THEY CAN BE VERY CHALLENGING LOL BUT IF YOU WORK HARD AND THEY SEE THAT, YOU ARE OKAY. YES WE HAVE NURSING COUNSELORS..BUT LIKE THE PROFESSORS, SOME ARE GOOD AND SOME ARE NOT. I ACTUALLY HAVE A NICE LADY AS ONE, BUT SHE DOES NOT KNOW MUCH LOL. I SEE MY SELF GOING INTO THE DEAN'S OFFICE FOR ANSWERS TOO OFTEN. IT IS SUCH A BIG NURSING PROGRAM AND YOU SEE ALOT OF DISORGANIZED HABITS BETWEEN THE STAFF LOL. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE ARE GONNA BE CHANGES IN THE PROGRAM THIS FALL, MEANING THAT THEY ARE GOING TO BECOME STRICTER. WHEN YOU GET INTO THE PROGRAM YOU NEED TO TAKE 2 TEST: NELSON DENNY FOR READING AND VOCABULARY COMPREHENSION (YOU HAVE TO SCORE 13. AND UP) AND A MATH TEST ( YOU CAN ONLY GET 2 ANSWERS WRONG.) IF YOU FAILED, THEN U MUST TAKE REMEDIAL COURSES AND IF U FAIL THE COURSES THEN YOU GET KICKED OUT OF THE PROGRAM. YOU MUST GET C+ AND BETTER IN EVERYYYYY NURSING COURSE AND IN THE RELATED ONES TOO. THERE IS ALOT MORE TO COME AND I MYSELF MUST FIND OUT BEFORE THE NEW SEMESTER. IM DOING THE 1ST 5-NURSING COURSES...IM ACCELARATING SO HOPEFULLY IT WON'T BE TOO MUCH!!!!!!! I'M 27 AND I HAVE NO INTENTIONS ON STAYING IN SCHOOL FOR EVERRRR! WELL I HOPE THIS HELP...IF U HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK ME!

Don't give up. I got rejected from suffolk and got into several private schools mentioned aboved. I ended up choosing molloy college and let me tell you that i love it. I start my first clinicals in the fall. My gpa was 3.3 at the time...so don't give up on your dream!

YES, THAT IS COMPLETELY TRUE UNFORTUNATELY. MOLLOY NURSING PROGRAM IS SET IN A WEIRD WAY. YOU CAN ONLY DO A LIMITED AMOUNT OF NURSING CLASSES PER SEMESTER... EVEN IF YOU WANNA ACCELARATE. IS A GREAT NURSING SCHOOL THOUGH. I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK IN THE FALL. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

WE DON'T TAKE THE NLN EXAM AT THE TIME OF ADMISSIONS, BUT WE DO TAKE THE NELSON DENNY TEST WHICH IS HARDDDDDDDD AND A MATH TEST WHERE YOU HAVE TO SCORE A MIN OF 90% WHICH IS BASICALLY 2 WRONGS ON THE TEST. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU HAVE A 4.0, YOU STILL NEED TO TAKE THIS 2 TEST. IF YOU DON'T PASS, THE U MUST TAKE REMEDIAL COURSES AND NOT FAIL OTHERWISE, YOU ARE OUT OF THE PROGRAM HOPE THIS HELPED YOU:coollook:
