I wanted to start a support thread for all of us that will be applying for the Spring 09 start. My hope is that we keep this thread alive through the process and keep each other encouraged! Nursing School is hard enough to get into!
Where are you applying?
What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?
When is your schools deadline?
When does the acceptance letters go out?
What is your plan A, B, C...?
Jaywolves,
Congrats on getting in! I'm applying in the spring for the Fall 2010 program at TVCC. May I ask what your final point count was that got you in? I have 117 and am waiting on my Pax results which I hope to get in the next few days. A 99 would get me 216, but I'm not holding my breath. Thanks. :)
Hi Rquinz,
Congrats on the great scores I'm in Arizona an I actually applied to CCAC for spring 2010 but my scores are nothing like that but can use a little help is it hard getting in to that school because my NET scores were really low I only had a comp of like a 72 and my GPA which I had to transfer in all of my credits is like a 3.3 not sure of my chances getting in at all I've finished all of my classes all I have are the nursing classes to do but I feel very discouraged knowing my scores are not up to par any suggestions or tips would be helpful trying to do things from here is a little hard. Thanks
I'm applying to a small four-year school in the southeast, that just recently got accredited for the BSN program. I already have a BA in English, and right now, due to some crappy semesters before I started pre-nursing, my overall GPA is about a 2.6; however, my awesome advisor told me that they are calculating a "program specific GPA", which I'm estimating is about a 3.4 so far. After this semester, I will have all of my pre-req's done except for 3. The application is due Oct. 1, and decision letters go out by Nov. 1. I should be submitting my app this coming week, if only I can focus long enough to finish my essays. lol
What's my plan if I don't get in? I have no idea! lol I'm trying to stay optimistic. I would probably just go back to work for a year, take a couple more courses to boost my chances, and then reapply next fall.
I'm planning on applying to the University of New Brunswick into their BSN program. They have a few campus's, so if I get wait-listed for one, there is a chance I'll get into another.
As well, for kicks... just to see if I can get in (99.9 percent sure I can get into UNB), I'm going to apply to Ryerson University and University of Prince Edward Island.
No GPA or points system, it's based off marks from high school and previous college/university grades. Right now I'm sitting around a 78% average. Most universities accept right away with a 80-85% average... so thats what I'm going right now! I'm upgrading a few marks and taking a few extra courses via correspondance.
Application deadline - Feb 1
Letters go out - Usually around May/June... but can be as late as the first day of classes in Sept
Back up plan
I've already been accepted into the LPN program at my local community college, so if all else fails... then I have a seat for fall 2010!
Thank you so much I felt better after I read your reply about the scores I was really worried about that. I did read about the extra points but wasn't sure how that worked. I chose Allegheny and Boyce because those were the only two accepting for this semester. I guess whichever one I get I'll be happy with it I'm staying hopeful while waiting for the letters thank you again. Let me know when you get your letter !!
Where are you applying? OCCC
What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? 17 (of 24 possible) points, GPA 3.77 (for now, although that could change after I complete micro this semester)
When is your schools deadline? Sept. 18 (I had my app in a month early so the wait is awful!)
When does the acceptance letters go out? about 3 weeks after the app deadline
What is your plan A, B, C...? Plan A = take my last 2 classes left and keep my fingers crossed!!

Yes. Sorry... I know it seems stupid to post it here, but we do kinda start this summer. Orientation is June 5th. It officially starts in September.
