Spinning name badge

Published

How do you keep your name badge from spinning? I get annoyed when I go into a room and my badge is turned around. I have used a badge reel, and the necklace type thing. Maybe if I had really big boobs it would lie flat. Sadly that isn't the case, so it spins.:lol2:

Lol! We have the same problem! Especially after we have to scan our badge... which is like every 2 minutes considering we scan it everytime we enter a patient's room, getting on half the elevators, in the cafeteria, going in/out of the parking garage, etc. We even have a policy called "face to face." That's our key words to say if we pass an employee in the hallway who's badge is flipped. :lol2: Supposedly we are going to get a second badge to put on the backside of our badge, but who knows when that will happen! PS I have big chesties and it doesn't help me. :D

Maybe use one of these clips?

Thats my next optuon, but what a pain. Our badge is barcoded and we use it for everything. This type would require a lot of bending over.

I think I will give it a go though.

Simply scan the front side of your name badge, print it out on an inkjet, and then tape it to the back side of your badge with some clear packing tape. If you're wearing one or several of those quick-reference badges then simply put the copied badge facing backwards sandwiching the references between your company-issued badge and your DIY copy.

Or, don't worry about it...

Believe me, I would like to not worry about it. But it is an issue. I do Charge and don't take a patient load, but I do discharges and education. If I was in a room, my name would be on a white board.

When I walk in a room, I always introduce myself, but pts still forget. I have had many grab my badge and turn it over.

I will try the scanning and see if it looks legit.

What happens if you "lose" your badge? If you don't get charged for a new one, you could maybe go get another one claiming to have "lost" your previous badge, and voila! Double sided name badge.

We have to scan for certain floors in certain elevators and for access to certain hallways, the OR, etc.

Why do you scan into a patient's room? The cafeteria? The garage?

I'm very curious.

Step one: Tape a magnet to the center of your chest.

Step two: Tape a magnet to the back of your badge.

Voila! You can still use your badge for swiping and it stays securely magnetted in one place when you aren't using it!

I've never actually tried this. And I can't imagine a magnet taped to your boobs with tegaderm would be fun to remove. But I think I'm on to something!

The hospital where I volunteered gave us two badges and they were attached so that no matter how it spinned on your chest there was a visible ID. Might be a good suggestion for your hospital?

I have real boobs, and it still spins around. Our names are on the back too.

Guess it is expected to spin :)

That's nice you have real boobs. OP said BIG boobs, not real or fake.

Hey, I have fake boobs and decent sized ones and it still spins, so breast size, nor what they are made of makes a difference. They just spin. Try some double sided tape.

Big boobs don't make a world of difference to the badge, I know ;)

I'm a guy and my badge spins, so the boobs don't matter. (Although, if I don't lay off the cheeseburgers, I may get "moobs" pretty quick). This spinning badge thing frustrates the heck out of me too. I've tried the deliberately flipping backwards trick of the previous poster at three different institutions with no luck. I may try some sort of lanyard thing next ....

One of my facilities has a 'best face forward' campaign right now, so badges are double sided - it's nice.

I made my badge holder for school - it is a non-twist bottom with a magnetic back! It doesn't spin and it doesn't require a pocket or my neck line to be worn :)
