I really dunno how to support my friends anymore, Cariads DH has been undergoing terrible health issues since September last year. When they discovered he had CAD he had 2 stents placed and at the smae time had to have a bone replaced in his neck otherwise he could have been paralised because of the damage in that area.
He continued to have cardiac type pain returned to his cardiologist in December where he repeated his stress test and was told there was nothing wrong with his heart, and to stop being anxious. The pain's continued until february when he was readmitted into hospital because the pains in his heart were so bad he couldn't stand it, he had a cath which showed the stents had blocked off and an new one needed stenting so three more stents were placed. He has continued to complain of pain in the heart and was readmitted to the hospital yesterday.
Meanwhile Cariad has continued to work full time to ensure they can pay their mortgage, continued studying for her BSN otherwise the hospital will want the money back they have invested into her, ran the house, paid the bills, looked after two demented cats and been a good friend. And of last but not least looked after her husband alone.
So what I am asking you all to do is send good vibes and support to one of our own here at allnurses, and see if we can collectively help to turn their luck into something positive and help Cariad feel supported. :redbeathe
just an update for all my friends, on allnurses. dh is now back at home but we as mystified with the chest pains as before he went in. they stopped the pains with a nitro patch and the only change is they added imdur to his medications. he again had a negative adenosine stress test, which to him means nothing. he had a negative one in december before he had re-occluded in february. he had the test in the morning and the cardiologist came to the floor and left without seeing him. he got forgotten about, so the nurse refused to give us the results of the test, so we are presuming that its negative, because they never came back to the floor to discharge him after several hours the nurse got a verbal discharge. so we havent spoken to anyone about what they think is going on. he had a chest pain a couple of hours after discharge and had some more last night. he also had a nosebleed that went on for a few hours, because they couldnt get it to stop. so we have to decide what to do next.
dh and i want to thank you for all your kind thoughts and wishes. we are still taking it a day at a time, some days are better than others, last night while i was at college he had a chest pain and took a nitro pill, but then at midnight he had the severest pain ever, which he eventually took 3 nitro pills before it settled down. it is so worrying, but the hospital doctor and the cardiologist dismissed us at the weekend as if theres nothing wrong. it seems that the only answer is to go and see another cardiologist which right now dh doesnt want to do. it doesnt make semse that all the cardiac tests are negative.
Only just now saw this thread.
Sending you and your DH very best wishes from Down Under.
I second you obtaining another opinion. And sincerely hope you receive some tangible answers soon.
Thanks Kay, for alerting us here on allnurses and giving people the chance to offer support, albeit, cyber support! :)
