I'm working noc shift on 12/24, 12/25, and 12/26.

anyone else working crazy hours like these? How are you spending holidays with your families while working?

We are doing our family get-togethers on different days. Doesn't bother me one bit that I have to work. We get 2.5x our hourly rate for Christmas day work.. CHA-CHING!

Happy Holidays,

Diane

0700-1900 Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, 26th, 27th.

Like most everyone else who is working - we did Xmas last weekend with kids and grandkids. Hubby is home by himself!

Hopefully, I can get away to go to church service tonight at 1800 but not counting on it. Started with pages at 0615 today!

Count me in for Christmas day and New Year's Eve!

Working 7p - 7:30am tonight.....double time. Off till tuesday after that. Already worked Thanksgiving this year along with a few minor holidays.

Could be worse, I could be a patient during the holidays.

Counting all of our blessings this year - even with dh getting laid off in October we are still blessed with the ability to pay all of our bills, be able to provide a decent Hanukkah for the kids and we are all healthy.

have to work 12 hours days on christmas get 1.5 pay.

we already get paid 8 hours for the holiday regardless

Specializes in Geriatrics, Transplant, Education.

tonight is my holiday off, although christmas eve i believe is only paid as time and a half if you work 3pm-11pm. i'm on tomorrow 3-11pm, doesn't bother me really because my family gathering is tonight, and i'm young/unmarried and have no little kids to worry about santa coming. my mom, younger brother & i will do christmas gifts & have christmas dinner before i go to work tomorrow (for double time..cha-ching!)

i worked thanksgiving, and will be working new years eve & new years day

Specializes in ER, OR, PACU, TELE, CATH LAB, OPEN HEART.

I started a new job Nov 30th and told my manager I'd be happy to work either holiday as my family is too far away to get together reasonably. She told me, "Oh you won't be working any holidays or weekends while in orientation. Next year you can worry about working holidays." I have 33 years experience and am getting 8-12 weeks orientation. Gotta love it.

Happy Holidays to everyone.

Specializes in Med Surg.

Working Chrismas night plus the next two then I'm working the night of New Year's Eve. We've already asked the ER to turn off the vacancy sigh for that one!:jester:
