  1. So why are you here, really?

    • I am overwhelmed with uncertainty and need advice!
    • I consider myself very wise, and love to give advice!
    • I enjoy reading the thoughtful, intellectual posts.
    • I enjoy reading the hilarious, ridiculous posts.
    • I am trolling for controversy (looking at you, NOADLS).
    • I don't often post, but enjoy reading what others have to say.
    • I enjoy feeling as though I'm part of the community.
    • I have nothing better to do.
    • Something entirely different; OP has missed the point.

AN allows us to do a lot of things.

I love stories--love to hear 'em, love to tell 'em, and especially love having a community of nurses who are fascinated by stories about bodily fluids/functions (rather than horrified).

It's also a great way to stay awake and entertained the night before or after a night shift.

So, fellow members, why are you here?

Just realized that the site is called SeniorPeopleMeet.com. :lol2:

Am I the only one getting this advert with my AN notification emails??

Is it something I said?

...forum officially derailed...

I came 2000 miles from Colorado to Atlanta to say goodbye to my mom and attend what everybody told me would be her funeral within a week or so. When I arrived I figured out that what she really needed was some freshly made vegetable juice (I admit it, I'm a juicer!); she was down to around 90 lbs and definitely not getting enough fluids. The more "green" juice I gave her, the better she got. Three months later we are getting her hair done, going to restaurants and having a ball. What I'm still trying to figure out is why when a patient is getting weaker by the minute and not eating, why the nurses/CNA's don't just juice 'em up like I did? It's all they need. She's eating regular meals and even standing up and walking on her own now. She has put on about twenty pounds and is reading books again for the first time in about two years. I'm starting to think some of these home health agencies want to keep their patients n bed.

I thought it was an ad. I kept waiting for him to tout the brand name of said juice.

Glad your mom is doing better, CC.

Because I don't have facebook so I need something else to entertain me. AN does a great job of that! Haha!

That's funny because I recently deactivated my Facebook. It got too political and people on there fed on drama and I was kinda over it. And just the other day I found myself cracking up at the thread "I give in, I'm a COB". And so I told one of my friends, "I like people on AN so much better than the people on Facebook"

I came back to AN after I found my way into my state's monitoring program for impaired nurses. The recovery community is small and the forum sometimes slow but it's nice to have that space where people understand because often even other recovering alcoholics (I go to AA) seem horrified by me.
