So why are you here, really?

  1. So why are you here, really?

    • I am overwhelmed with uncertainty and need advice!
    • I consider myself very wise, and love to give advice!
    • I enjoy reading the thoughtful, intellectual posts.
    • I enjoy reading the hilarious, ridiculous posts.
    • I am trolling for controversy (looking at you, NOADLS).
    • I don't often post, but enjoy reading what others have to say.
    • I enjoy feeling as though I'm part of the community.
    • I have nothing better to do.
    • Something entirely different; OP has missed the point.

AN allows us to do a lot of things.

I love stories--love to hear 'em, love to tell 'em, and especially love having a community of nurses who are fascinated by stories about bodily fluids/functions (rather than horrified).

It's also a great way to stay awake and entertained the night before or after a night shift.

So, fellow members, why are you here?

I came back to AN after I found my way into my state's monitoring program for impaired nurses. The recovery community is small and the forum sometimes slow but it's nice to have that space where people understand because often even other recovering alcoholics (I go to AA) seem horrified by me.

I'm glad you found somewhere to be understood. :) there are a lot of very caring, accepting and encouraging people on here.

I have someone very close to me who is in recovery, and I know from personal experience as well it's a daily battle. Stay strong. :) ::hugs::

Oh my gosh... I just deactivated my Facebook too. What is this madness?

We should start a club. I got rid of mine about a year ago when the demons that are my boyfriends ex's tried to start nonsense for us.

Just wasn't worth it.

I haven't even missed it. Not one bit. If anyone wants to contact me, I have a phone!

Agreed!

I'm ready to deactivate my FB, too. My cousin posted about shredding babies and there was this whole stone and mutilate dogs thing that was going around.

If it wasn't the only way I could get a hold of my brothers....

Yeah, I'm addicted to books and movies and recently quit both, so I pretty much have nothing better to do than hang out here. Besides, Farawyn's here. And NOADLS. And nursingaround1. And Oodles. And RubyVee. And VivaLasViejas. And ixchel.

Maybe I'm here for the controversy and the laughs, after all. And the friendship.

I feel like it's a special kind of comradery in nursing. Maybe not everywhere you go, but overall.

Fie. Don't ever quit books!

I didn't know you could check more than one. I'm sitting here thinking I need to check all of them. *sigh*

The amount of confederate flags on my Facebook from my mother's family is ridiculous. I would deactivate mine but it really is the best way for me to keep up to date on family and friends.

Plus I like to play the games.........

Because how could I refuse the chance to fraternize with fellow nurses? Throw in some humor and controversy and I've got it made! It's dinner and a show folks!
