This post is meant as a bit of light relief and certainly not meant to be taken too seriouly. Last night one of the nurses in my department said they had read an article saying that despite the growth of the internet the most likely place that people meet partners is at work so we had a quick pole to see if this was the case. The results are as follows:
1) Police Officers - the run away winners with 8 nurses in our department in a relationshipwith a police officer, must be the uniforms!!.
2) Other nurses - came in at number 2 with an equal mix of people having met at nursing school or once qualified.
3) Paramedics - all had met through work
4) Radiographer - again another meet through work
5) Doctor - only came in at way down the list, clearly we have not been reading enough Mills and Boons!!! It's funny when I started training in the olden days the first thing my 90year old Grandma said was "how lovely you'll be able to meet a handsome Doctor" never had the heart to tell her the reality!!:)
It's fair to say we also had nurses who met their partners away from work and are in relationships with a teacher, farmer, car salesman and vet!!!!
As I said it's just for fun but now it's over to you - who do nurses marry or have as civil partners?????:redbeathe

My husband is a Correctional Sergeant in one of the prisons here in town. He's toyed with the idea of going to nursing school after he pulls his retirement (at 45 ) and working in the psychiatric field. He's always loved working the psych unit at his prison and gets on very well with the mentally challenged/ill. Of course, when we met, he was a lowly Correctional Officer (bottom of the totem pole) and I was a waitress in a sports bar preparing for Paramedic school....lol!
from personal experience and from experiences told to me by friends in same situation...........................rns and cops don't mix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
too much adrenaline, too much drama, too many control issues, crazy shifts. seems all cool at first but not so much fun down the road........

First time I laid eyes on my now husband I was 17, I was envolved with a friend of his. Had never met him before because he had moved out of State right after he graduated. It was love at first sight. But it was the wrong time. Flashforward a couple of years, I was out with a friend at a local bar & grill and he accidentaly stepped on my foot as he walked by. He flashed me a huge smile and apoligized. I turned to my best friend and said "Mark my words, I am going to have his baby and marry him" Her reply was "wouldn't it be better to marry him and then have a baby" I said, well, either way And that's exactly what happened, we had our daughter and got married a few yrs later. So we've been together for 21 yrs in May and married 13 years in April.
I was a CNA at the time and he worked with his dad. Now I'm a nurse and he runs our small home improvement buisness :)
My hubby started our relationship as a mechanic but when the job market started to fade in the 70's , he became an apprentice boilermaker and learned to weld; he was working out on the road alot back then. I tease him a lot that I make more than he ever did { he's disabled, ill } and I am home every night.
