I'm so sorry you went through such a humiliating experience! The way those women treated you was ugly and disgusting! :angryfire

I've been in a couple of similar situations and was just as shocked and speechless as you were. The difference for me was that I cried all the way home and never told anybody, ever. I just tried to forget it and pretend it never happened. 'Course, that just gave the memory more power and as a result, it STILL bothers me when something reminds me of it.

So although I'm sure the feelings are still raw since it was so recent, I'm glad you are talking about it. :icon_hug:

Like the others have said, I am very sorry to hear that you were treated so poorly. Those women should have been more concerned about your health and well-being than that stupid chair. And they weren't exactly considerate to you. At least you know that's one place that's not worth going to!

If you want to find a positive side to this horrifying incident, it is that you found out what those people are like before going to work there! Imagine having found out their lack of caring and compassion after having been hired!

I have not had it happen, but I have flowed so heavily in the past that I worried about sitting down at someone's house, and wound up sort of sitting cata-wompus on one leg so I wouldn't stain a couch.

With bleeding that heavy, is your MD checking your hgb? They say a lot of premenopausal women are borderline anemic; I'd keep tabs on it.

I hope you find a great place to work!

I am sooo sorry you had to go through that. It would be very humiliating, but to then have other women act as they did would just make it a hundred times worse. What a bunch of insensitive jerks! :icon_hug:

Sheesh! what woman wouldn't understand and show concern instead of embarrassing someone?

Sounds dreadful.

Interesting, that they weren't the least bit concerned if you were o.k. If someone was bleeding that much I would have asked "are you o.k.? Anything we can do? Do you need a doctor?" since that kind of bleeding isn't normal. Can't believe they threw out a good chair.

That was SO RUDE!!! It will happen to everyone at one point or another and karma will come back and bite you in the butt. I would think they'd be more concerned that you were ill...I guess that would have taken away from their fun though.

My patient I care for in private duty has been in the hospital so I went to another agency to see if they had any jobs I could do.
I feel like I can say this among nurses but I apologize if I gross anyone out. My OB/GYN prescribed a round of hormones to clean out my uterus which is causing occasional episodes of very heavy bleeding. "Just in case" I wear a tampon AND a thick pad.
So, I go in to apply at this agency and they lead me to a back room, sit me down and give me the paperwork to do. As I sit down I feel blood come gushing out so I excuse myself to the bathroom. When I change and come back I notice some blood on the chair and I couldn't find any bleach but I wip the blood off and sit down and get busy on the paperwork (I live over an hour away so I wanted to go ahead and get the application filled out). A different woman than the one who lead me to the back comes in and says "The girls say you are back here bleeding, I'm going to have to ask you to come back another time because that is just so unsanitary. We have children come back here and now I'm going to have to throw that chair away."
Well, I'm so shocked it takes a minute for me to register what is going on. But when it hits me all I can think to ask is "can't you clean the chair with bleach?" She says, "I don't have any bleach." So then I can only think to say, "I'll just not come back, this is so embarrassing." She says "Well...ok."
I get out to the car and remember I left something behind but I'm too humiliated to go back so I send my friend in. She says they were in there making fun of me and carrying that metal chair out to the garbage with gloves on.
I'm so embarrassed. I wish I could get a hysterectomy.

Good Lord, that had to have been horrible for you.

I think they could have handled the situation a little better (professionally)than they did. The never asked if you were ok, or if you needed anything.

And it sounds like the chair is more important than people to them. Not exactly an agency i'd want to work for.

That agency should be embarrassed for their blatant lack of professionalism.:angryfire

wow, I am dumbfounded at the rude crowd. Things happen for a reason, so you should be glad you saw the light before you entered the tunnel. Best wishes to you and don't feel ashamed of anything.

The woman who came to the back and "kicked me out" *was* the proprietor. She acted like I was some kind of filthy animal. Apparently, she has her nursing degree on paper only, because any real nurse would not have reeled at something so minor as blood on a metal chair--she had acne and if I had felt like being really cruel I could have reminded her that her face was full of bacteria which wasn't very sanitary, either (I'm sorry, the shock has worn off and I'm starting to get really annoyed by the blatant snottiness.)

I hear that this proprietor worked as a "tech" before she opened her agency. I also hear that these snooty hens go to the same church...I can't imagine what *kind* of church.

And maybe it is better that this happened, because I also hear that this is the kind of place that will boot you from a case if one of their "friends" decides she wants to work the job.

Oh well, I can at least speak from experience when I tell people they do not want to go to such a wretched, shabby place to seek employment. Let those snotty women stay to themselves and sheltered from the real world of nursing.

BLOODY HELL! I have fibroids and my periods are heavier than I can keep up with so I can understand what you are going through. I fell asleep on a "red eye" (that's not the only thing that woke up red!) flight and when they were deboarding I waited till everyone got off, it looked like a crime scene!!!

I agree, immature staff with no people skills working in a profession that is supposed to promote understanding and compassion. What are your plans for the heavy bleeding? I tried a thermal ablation and it worked for about a year.

They have a new technique that involved the femerol artery into the uterine circulation but it sounds like it is more invasive. Hormones are out of the question for me and I take iron supplements to prevent anemia.

Not all agencies are like that by the way. A little humor in all the right places can diffuse just about anything.

Also, I am very sorry this happened. Their behavior makes a good example of the difference between being a professional nurse and being just hired help. I am so sorry you had to go through that. I wasn't even there...and I'm embarrassed for their dismal display of professional behavior. How juvenile on their part. You have my hugs, girl. Hope you feel better soon!

I agree. That was horrible behavior on the part of that person. I am thinking, I would not want to work THERE.
