I feel like crying right now.
I just found out I won't be able to pay for my classes this semester, my first semester of pre-recs.
I just want to cry. I was so looking forward to starting school this August. I am so mad.
I don't qualify for federal aid and have been out of school so long that scholarships aren't really an option either.

Sounds like you need to visit a financial aid officer. Have you talked to one yet? I found mine to be of great value when I needed help.

Yup, def. talk with financial aid. Seems like you could get a federal Stafford loan without much trouble.
OP here,
I actually have HORRIBLE credit so a loan is not really an option either. I really don't think there is any way this will happen until Spring which puts me at a SPR 2010 NS start instead of FALL 2009. UGH:crying2:

Have you filled out a FAFSA? Do you work in healthcare and talked with employers about assistance?

I know just how you feel. I was in the same situation. I was so unhappy. I went to friends, family, and even people in my church. Alast no help there. I must pay off an old bill before I can get what I need. I have been paying out of my own pocket thus far. Do what I did so that you can start. :idea:Take one or two classes that you can pay for and get on a payment plan with the school. Yes, it will slow you down a bit but you will get to start and starting is the best part.

Chin up there julesradio, I'm sure there is a solution. Can you do a payment plan with the school. There is something called tuitionpay. http://www.tuitionpay.com thats how I was able to pay for my pre-reqs, and I budgeted my paycheck so I made all my payments on time.
Where there is a will there is a way. Check to see if your school participates in tuition pay, you can sign up for it online and go from there. If they don't participate go talk to finance people and find out if you can set up a payment plan. Hope this helps...everything will be okay.

Try http://www.fastweb.com and http://www.scholarshipexperts.com
There are tons of scholarships specifically designed for older students. I would really check with a financial aid advisor at your school because there are TONS of options.
And when push comes to shove take a minimal amount of credits and just pay out of pocket.

hi,
beleive it or not for student loans they do not really take a good look at credit, most people who do not recive student loans by checking the box on the FASFA form, do not receive them because they have defaulted on other student loans. Try it, I bet you will get loans, just be sure to pay them when the time comes.

You definately need to apply for student loans. I know plenty of people that have gone this route and have had really bad credit. I know one guy right now going to school on loans and he just filed for backruptcy last year. Usually for student loans the only way you are turned down is if you really defaulted on previous student loans.
It sounds like you really want this so don't give up yet! There are ways to get money for school out there. Talk to a financial aid advisor at your school. They will help you work out something
JUST DON"T GIVE UP YET!!!

I agree with Berry-nice. You need to speak to the Financial Aid officer...and the financial aid secretary doesn't count. You need hard-core advice!
PS: EVERYONE qualifies for loans. There is no reason why you can't get these.
