I just wanted to leave a complimentary thread about the new Sketcher sneakers advertised on television with the rocker bottom-which is very similar to MBT. I purchased two pair last week, a white for work and black for casual wear and they feel like heaven. I was interested in purchasing MBT at first, but they were too expensive. Thank goodness I waited, because now, I was able to get these for $99. each. Well worth the money, folks!
No, they are actually pretty light. I have 2 pairs..black for my "civilian" life and white for work.Hey, if they'd help me shape up a little like the ad says they're supposed to, they'd be worth the money......but they look like they are heavy and not really easy to move in. I have some balance problems, plus I like a shoe that's light---I drag around enough weight as it is.
Just reporting back into this thread. I finally got some and really like them. I can walk around in them and not have the knee and hip pain I have felt for a couple of years. I can also feel them giving my glutes and legs a bit of a work out -- and I think they improve my posture (which has historically been pretty bad).
So far ... the Sketcher "shpae ups" get a big "thumb's up" from me.
I have worn my shape ups about 6 weeks now. They feel great. A little bit of a challenge getting use to, as far as taking off real quick as we nurses do so frequently. Quickly over came that. Now when I don't wear them my hips and back hurt. My posture has been great, so can't complain with that problem. It just must be the shoes are doing something great for me while I work 6 or 7, 12.5 hr shifts in a row!!! Love them and would suggest anyone getting a pair!!!
I was wondering about these. They look silly but the comments seem to be pretty positive. I will at least go try on a pair. Thanks for the insight!
Warning! Trying them on will feel weird. They are different and you have to learn to walk in them. They even come with a little booklet and CD!
I got used to them in about 2 days and really like them ... but it does take a bit to feel "normal" walking in them.
I went to the shoe store today and they had them.. tried a pair on... and i asked to compare the level of support to the merrell brand. and the guy at teh shoe store told me. the sketchers were not meant for support but to "exercise" and were not meant to be worn for hours on end........ that scared me away.. and I ended up buying a pair of merrell's.. they were pretty though........

Have had my Sketcher shape ups for over a month now, work 12+ hour shifts, 4 days in a row and they are great!! Holding up very well! I'm a bit on the heavy side, and the shoes have not slouched over like a pair of Saucony's did! Super comfy, and they didn't feel weird at all the first time I wore them, just very comfortable! Merril does have a great reputation, like their shoes as well, never worn them for work though
I have been wearing mine for almost a month. Loooooove them! My heel pain has disappeared. It was so bad that when I spent all day on my feet, it would be excruciating to drive home because you have to set your heel on the ground to push the brakes/accelerator. After about a week with my Sketchers, I was walking around the grocery store and all of a sudden stopped dead in my tracks because I realized that I WAS NOT IN PAIN! This is the first time since nursing school my heel did not hurt, and I am not exaggerating (or a paid spokesperson, LOL!) My back never hurts anymore and I feel like I can do so much more than I used to.
My husband was set to have a hip replacement and he is now considering pushing it back because his hip pain has decreased and is more manageable. The only thing I can think of is that they must align you properly, hence reducing pain. I would love to see some studies on this to understand how and why we are both having such good luck with them!

I don't think that there will be a weight loss like they advertise, but I can say that they made my feet feel better enough to walk around more if I wanted to.
