showing cleavage at clinical

we just finished our psych rotation. We were asked not to wear uniforms, but instead to dress in "street clothes" with a professional appearance. More than once, 1 or 2 female students showed up to the mental hospital with cleavage showing...

what is your **professional** opinion on that?

and of all places a psych rotation... why would you want to call undue attention to yourself in that setting anyway? I must say that during morning report the nurses were complaining about 2 of the pharmacists and their attire. The next week I saw who they were talking about and completely understood. (sparkly thong and all).

My professional opinion is that it's unprofessional.

We recently had a student show up to gather her patient profile info wearing jeans and flip flops...with her belly showing.

First of all, the title made me laugh :chuckle

I am also a nursing student and think that showing cleavage is unprofessional. But what can you do? I would bet that your professors also saw the students' chests and will say something to them if they are unhappy with their clothing.

There is one young woman in my nursing class that wears jeans that have rips in the pocket part (you know, where you behind is) and *no underwear* so everyone can see her bum. Sometimes, though, she DOES wears pink polka-dotted underwear. :uhoh21:

My professional opinion is these girls are asking for it.

I had ONE rotation in psych and a full day at a well known state mental hospital. Just being female in that place was enough to get the old men there grabbing things that they shouldn't of (on themselves). We dressed in professional attire. I wouldn't DREAM of wearing anything revealing. Only takes a moment to be snatched up and taken advantage of in some places. And I KNOW it happens. Sad but true.

No cleavage is not professional, not acceptable in clinicals or working as a Nurse. You are a stripper, waitress, bartender or hooker then it is appropiate. I don't want to see it.

We have had people sent home from psyche for this!! It is not appropriate for MANY reasons. Geez.

Its just like when we used to wear whites and girls thongs were showing. BLECH!
