Some mornings I log on, only to turn around and leave. What is with the folks who appear to be out to monopolize the forum? Are they in a competition with each other as to who can post the most threads? Do they not have lives? Are they dangerous, as in "I want to learn how to program this infusion pump without actually having a job that requires it"?

I see your point OP. But my thoughts on the matter is that no one can really monopolize the forum without "our" willing cooperation. When we keep replying to threads we keep them alive. We choose if we wish to participate, or not. So, I'd say it's a symbiotic venture :)
And to be honest, I think that sometimes a bit of drama can be entertaining.
(About the poster who posted at length about specialty beds and some medical procedures and other medical equipment. The questions are no doubt weird (and can be construed as sinister) but I think that we might be dealing with a person who has spent a prolonged period of time in an ICU with what I suspect was extensive injuries and is now dealing with the emotional aftermath. I think that it might be a good idea to tread lightly on that one).

It does seem stranger then usual around here lately.
One of the reasons I am addicted to AN is I love to help people out when they have a problem, or just give a big hug to a stranger in need.. but lately I feel all I am posting is the are you serious and what were you thinking posts..or the I'm not touching that post with a ten foot pole

There has been quite a few lately that I shake my head while reading.. I'm not sure if it is trolling or just true fools. My husband often says I expect too much of people, like the fact that I expect people to have the same level of common sense as say.. a rock? I'm trying to just skip over the dud threads, but sometimes I cannot resist..

That's why I have NO expectations of people...I'm not surprised or shocked when people are posting some strange questions; either I sit on my hands or respond the best way like I usually would respond.
I say indulge.
