second semester thread :-)

Who all is going into their second semester? We just started this week, one class down and one lab down. They laid out our group project and our research project on day one. I am glad to kind of already be able to plan for those. We are hitting OB and Newborn hard right now, with med surg to come later. We have a dosage calc exam during our next lab and a skills review during the lab after that. I am so excited to not feel like a newbie anymore!!

Hope everyone enjoyed a well needed break and is as excited as I am to be going at it again :-)

Just finished my 1st week of 2nd semester too. We are doing Med/Surg this semester. OB and Peds is in the summer. We have 3 exams, 1 final, 13 quizzes, 1 math competency test, 4 lab tests, 1 HESI exam, ABG assignment, process recording assignment, attend a community class and do a 3-4 page report and presentation, observe an OR rotation, GI/diagnostic rotation PLUS our weekly clinical paperwork and 1 big concept map careplan. This is going to be one FUN and stressful semester.

I start today. OB then med/surg and pharm. I'm enjoying the reading more than first semester. We have an OR day and paper, group presentation, case studies, weekly care plans, lab papers and journals, process recording. Less labs more clinical days! I definitely don't feel like a newbie anymore.

I start on Monday!! Have a dosage calc test very first day, eek! I am in med-surg and mental health this semester. I'm excited and looking forward to the challenge! There is lots to do, which will be outlined next week.

I start in two weeks with OB first and then med surg. Woot! So excited, but I know it's one of those semesters where alot of people fail. Enjoying my break while I have one and also pre studying some med surg.

I started second semester on Jan 3! Already started clinicals too. Med Surg and OB. Test every week in both classes, already had 2 lab skills tests, and math tests in both classes. Care plans every week, clinicals two days a week, group project, individual project, and ATI practice tests and ATI proctored tests at the end of the semester for each class.

Clinicals are two days every week. We do OB clinicals every third week(with labor and delivery, OB office, and NICU), with the other weeks spread between a med-surg floor and a telemetry floor. We are also going to have rotations in ED and OR!

And I thought there was a lot of work and pressure last semester!!!

Started 3 weeks ago! Were in week 4 already! (were in quarters though so we only have another 6 weeks to go then finals!!)

Already 2 tests down (Aced both of them!) just had round one of check offs (passed both and feeling pretty amazing!!, it was Foley catheters and Wound care, monday i have Pharmacology check offs. then our first clinical day is next week!

I'm actually feeling alot better this quarter compared to last quarter...

were in Med Surg and Pharmacology this quarter and i actually enjoy these classes more then the classes last quarter, and although they are harder (20 chapters on the first pharm test, and we only had 2 classes, most everything was podcasts....) i'm enjoying it more and more!

Dang! Do you have any hair left? I would have pulled mine out by now!

I start my third week of the second semester on Monday. Even tho there is so much work, I feel better that I did well the first semester, so that builds your confidence some. We have 4 tests and a final for this semester, not like last semester...tests, quizzes, med calculation, product quizzes. Just keeping my fingers crossed that I stay ahead of the game and can do well. Good luck to everyone!

Entering third week now :) it's been pretty crazy. Nonstop reading. Nonstop notetaking. Yesterday while I was shopping for groceries, I was listening to a pharm lecture. I am trying to study as much as I can. I had a few days off from work but now my schedule is tight again.

Start clinical in a few weeks! I am so excited. I have no idea what floor we are in but I have an excellent professor so it should go well.

GOOD LUCK TO US!!!!!

I am so glad to see were still hanging in there and enjoying the ride! I was thinking about dosage calc as I was driving today.. LOL :-) I am so absorbed in this that even on my down time I am quizzing myself.

Lets keep encouraging each other, I love the support!

I finished my first week of second semester last week. Was exciting and overwhelming at the first time. I get to do MedSurg the first 8 weeks, and then will switch to Mother Baby/Peds. It's awesome to think of all the new responsibilities that will be tacked on and I was happy to see that my brain was processing more this time around. We started our first day off with a dosage calculation test that we needed to get 90% or higher on, met with our new clinical groups and then broke for the day. Day 2 was our first lecture in our seperate rotations, and then we went and met with the lab skills staff to have an IVPB and IV push demonstration.

Last semester my main concern was the dosage test and passing meds. This semester all the new expectations make the dosage test look easy. There's a long list of new things to learn. It's hard to believe we've come so far in a short time. It will very interesting to see how we've grown by thus summer. What are your fears and goals for this semester? What are you most excited about?
