Hey All
I haven't yet seen a forum for this cohort yet and I wanted to start one! Applications are due soon and wanted to see how others are going along with the process and see if theres any advice or recommendations that anyone has. This could be with the application, interviews, pre-reqs, HESI, etc. I appreciate those who comment and add to the forum!
A little about me: originally from NYC moved out to Oakland in 2015. I worked in Urgent Care, and have volunteer work during Covid-19. Finishing up a few pre-reqs now and hopefully will have them done in time for the application due date Dec 1st. Let me know if there are any other questions for me, I am very interested to see the backgrounds of others who are also applying, its a stressful but exciting time for everyone! ?
P.S. if there is a forum for the Fall 2021 ELMSN program please link it!

It’s pretty much asking if we want to be considered for the CM program instead of the FNP. It’s not guaranteed, we still have to go through the whole process. They’re also clarifying and emphasizing that it’s not a back door entry for FNP and we won’t be able to switch programs if we do get accepted.. we have to tweak our essays and resume to reflect the CM program more..

I see... FNP is way different than CM. I remember in the interview Janet saying that FNP and ABSN applicants tend to be the "experienced" people who are already EMTs/CNAs/MAs/RNs while CM applicants don't have much experience. Not to say that you don't have comparable experience - just recalling what she told me.
All the best to you!
Hey @mobeeezy! Im not looking for housing since Im in the area, but there are a lot of new apt buildings in the area! Not sure what your circumstances are (apt vs house, rent vs buy, roommates vs alone) but, theres a website called forrentuniversity.com and you can type in Samuel Merritt University and it will give you available apartments in the area.
I can also PM you and let you know if/when there is any vacancies in my apartment building, not trying to be creepy or anything, LOL I just get a referral bonus if I can help fill apartments in the building haha

I’m not looking for housing either, but I want to pass on the two best resources (in addition to Craigslist) I’ve used for finding an affordable room in shared homes in Oakland the last 5 years I’ve lived here. Lord knows we could use something affordable as we’re about to enter years of no income :(
Both are facebook groups, the first is “Affordable Housing for OK people: Bay Area”
link: https://m.facebook.com/groups/945920215452910?group_view_referrer=search
and
“Bay Area Rooms and Apartment”
https://m.facebook.com/groups/390478684333910?group_view_referrer=search
and word of mouth/ friend connections is super helpful. I’ll keep an ear out for any of my friends with openings in their home. Hope this helps!

Not yet! I'm anxiously waiting for that too. During my interview, she had mentioned that clinicals would be widely disbursed all throughout the Bay Area.
