Nursing Students School Programs

Hey All

I haven't yet seen a forum for this cohort yet and I wanted to start one! Applications are due soon and wanted to see how others are going along with the process and see if theres any advice or recommendations that anyone has. This could be with the application, interviews, pre-reqs, HESI, etc. I appreciate those who comment and add to the forum!

A little about me: originally from NYC moved out to Oakland in 2015. I worked in Urgent Care, and have volunteer work during Covid-19. Finishing up a few pre-reqs now and hopefully will have them done in time for the application due date Dec 1st. Let me know if there are any other questions for me, I am very interested to see the backgrounds of others who are also applying, its a stressful but exciting time for everyone! ?

P.S. if there is a forum for the Fall 2021 ELMSN program please link it!

Hi!

I am from SoCal applying for the ELMSN-FNP track. I finished my prereqs this Summer so now all my energy is in my application ?. I currently work at a pediatric clinic and I've been here for about a year. I just graduated in 2018 so I haven't had too big of a gap since undergrad. I am EMT certified but I ended up not working as one. I did volunteer during my undergrad at a free clinic as well.

Hi!

I'm originally from Cape Cod, MA but moved to San Luis Obispo to attend Cal Poly for my undergraduate. I graduated this past Spring but have stayed in the SLO area. I am applying to the ELMSN-FNP. I also work at a pediatrics clinic and have been for the past two years! I volunteer in the NICU at the local hospital but haven't been able to recently due to COVID :(

I just finished taking my HESI and I have all my pre-reqs completed. Now I'm just trying to finish up the essays and get everything organized. This is my first time applying to a nursing program so I'm not sure what to expect but I'm super excited to have found this forum to connect with you all!

I'm applying to the Case Management program and also went to Cal Poly!! I'm finishing up some pre-reqs right now but I have worked as an ER medical scribe for two years and for the county health department in a clinic for at-risk kids. This is also my first time applying to schools so I'm very excited!

How was taking the HESI online for everyone? I'm taking it soon!

Oh no way! When did you graduate/what did you major in?

The HESI was a breeze in my experience! Download the pocket prep app it was super helpful. You have to pay like $15 for the full version but it was so worth it they had a ton of good practice questions! I used that app and the HESI exam review booklet made by HESI and got an overall score of 95%. Good luck you’ll be totally fine!

Just graduated in June 2020 as a Psych major! What about you? And thanks for the insight!! I kind of decided to apply last minute so I am just starting to study LOL but it doesn't seem too bad!

Ah we probably know each other then I just graduated as well as a Child Development major! What’s your name???

And yeah it’s pretty minor all the questions are relatively basic! I’m assuming you took Bio 231/232 and those classes definitely prepare you well for the A&P section ?

I did the same! I used the pocket prep app and a HESI book I bought earlier the year.

It actually wasnt so bad! It was my first standardized tests since the SATs like 11 years ago. I did well 93% ?

Hi all! I'm also applying this cycle! ? I graduated in 2018 and worked for 1.5 years as an EMT and MA. I'm not currently working right now as I'm finishing up my prerequisites. I've never applied to nursing schools before so I'm nervous but just hoping for the best ? How are everyone's applications going? Also, would anyone happen to know if we have to be verified by Dec 1st on nursingCAS, or do we just have to submit by then? ? Thanks in advance and good luck to us all!! ❤️

Hi everyone!

I graduated in 2018 with my Bachelor's in Health Science, Pre-Clinical Preparation from Cal State East Bay. Currently working as a medication care manager at a residential care facility. I was blessed with the opportunity to go to the Nursing Success Seminar in June 2019 at the Oakland Campus. I applied for the FNP program last year, but did not get accepted ? So here I am shooting my shot at their CM program!

At the Nursing Success Seminar, the student ambassadors emphasized the Personal Statement section, and mentioned to really sell yourself to the admissions committee in that section.

Best of luck to us all! ❤️

Hey all! Is anyone taking the HESI for a second time and has had issues with the website or test?
