Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Fall 2021

Published

Hey All

I haven't yet seen a forum for this cohort yet and I wanted to start one! Applications are due soon and wanted to see how others are going along with the process and see if theres any advice or recommendations that anyone has. This could be with the application, interviews, pre-reqs, HESI, etc. I appreciate those who comment and add to the forum!

A little about me: originally from NYC moved out to Oakland in 2015. I worked in Urgent Care, and have volunteer work during Covid-19. Finishing up a few pre-reqs now and hopefully will have them done in time for the application due date Dec 1st. Let me know if there are any other questions for me, I am very interested to see the backgrounds of others who are also applying, its a stressful but exciting time for everyone! ?

P.S. if there is a forum for the Fall 2021 ELMSN program please link it!

Not yet! I'm anxiously waiting for that too. During my interview, she had mentioned that clinicals would be widely disbursed all throughout the Bay Area.

Oh nice!! Did you happen to ask how many times a week they would be? It totally slipped my mind to ask that.

From what I remember (so don’t quote me on this ?)... she said that she expects clinicals to start off at once a week and then twice a week the term afterwards although I’m not sure which term it actually starts. She did mention that it’s all TBD at the moment due to COVID so things could definitely change!

I just got out of the interview session this evening not long ago. We were told that it would be the first week of April since they just started the interview process.

Do you think the first week of April means the week of March 28th or the week of April 4th?

Ohhhh so once a week for first semester?! When I spoke to my interviewer, she said that the classes portion is fully online as of right now due to COVID. She also mentioned that due to the new UK variant they aren't expecting to go back on campus for quite some time to teach in person. I'll shoot out an email and get a for sure answer!! Thank you friend!! ?

If you look at our curriculum (on the website), our first clinical is in the first semester- psych/mental health nursing. My interviewer said they expect to have the clinical resume as usual, maybe with less site options though and TBD if Covid surges again.

Has anyone else that only applied for CM, heard back yet?

She told our group “the first full week of April” so I think that means the week of April 4th. Hopefully we get news sooner though!

No ? I'm assuming that those who got denied from FNP and offered to apply for CM are who we're waiting on...

Gotcha, that would make more sense. I really hope it's sooner too. Crossing my fingers, toes, praying & manifesting (covering everything LOL ?)  for all of us to hear good news ❤️?

How long do applicants who want to be considered for CM have to make changes and submit their application?

hi all! for those who interviewed for ELMSN-FNP, how long was the interview?
