Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Fall 2021

Published

Hey All

I haven't yet seen a forum for this cohort yet and I wanted to start one! Applications are due soon and wanted to see how others are going along with the process and see if theres any advice or recommendations that anyone has. This could be with the application, interviews, pre-reqs, HESI, etc. I appreciate those who comment and add to the forum!

A little about me: originally from NYC moved out to Oakland in 2015. I worked in Urgent Care, and have volunteer work during Covid-19. Finishing up a few pre-reqs now and hopefully will have them done in time for the application due date Dec 1st. Let me know if there are any other questions for me, I am very interested to see the backgrounds of others who are also applying, its a stressful but exciting time for everyone! ?

P.S. if there is a forum for the Fall 2021 ELMSN program please link it!

hi all! for those who interviewed for ELMSN-FNP, how long was the interview?

The length, I think, is truly dependent on how big or small the group is. Looking at the email invite I got, they allotted 2 hours. Without giving away interview specific details I’d say between 1.5 hours to 2 hours. Hope this helps ❤️

ohhh okay! because when I registered, it was saying it'd be a 45 minute interview. but the zoom link is for 2 hours so I was confused!

Yeah, that was the case for me too. Nothing to worry about. Best of luck! ?

If you look at our curriculum (on the website), our first clinical is in the first semester- psych/mental health nursing. My interviewer said they expect to have the clinical resume as usual, maybe with less site options though and TBD if Covid surges again.

Makes sense. I think we would probably only come to campus once a week I’m assuming for either simulations or for clinicals in the area. For first semester!

Hi guys!

If anyone finds an affordable online CPR BLS program please let us know. God knows we need to save every penny during these next two years. The one the school recommended is a bit pricey. We can get it from any provider it just needs to be AHA certified. Btw, has anyone else submitted their Letter of Intent? Congrats to us all and good luck to everyone waiting to hear back!

Did anyone apply to CM after receiving the email from Anne/being denied for FNP?

Hi all, just to get some clarity— some folks who had originally applied to only FNP were denied but given the chance to apply to CM? Was this after they had an FNP interview?  I’m wondering how these were picked out. I remember after submitting my application I looked over it again and thinking my overall experience may have been fitted more towards CM but I only applied as FNP and thankfully interviewed. Now just waiting to hear back!

From what I understand, those who were denied FNP were sent a time-sensitive email and given an opportunity to apply/submit their essays with a CM emphasis. They had not been offered interviews for FNP.

Hows everyone feeling today!? Im super excited for those who received acceptances already, and mildly jealous that you guys are not sitting in this limbo I feel is like purgatory lmao

@ those accepted, keep us posted on the financial aid info (if you don't mind), I personally have not looked into that yet, just hoping I get in first haha

how is everyone keeping sane? what are your guys' hobbies? stress reducers?

When it comes to stress reducers, I definitely love meditation and breath work! You should try this app called Unplug Meditation! Its in the app store and you can make a free account to try out some of the guided meditations and breathwork videos! I love it ❤️

But when it comes to keeping sane....I’m genuinely just not keeping sane haha Every night I start watching some NP videos on Youtube just DREAMING of getting some good news the next day LOL
